Huntly

I haven't seen the chicks for a while & the blog says that they are mobile now & are seeking shade in the shadow of the cam. They have been seen & are fine...

I sent a message to Spain and got a reply. they are great in getting back to me.

Hi Bev,

The young male flew last wednesday but he is still around the nest. He fly perfectly. The females are inside a hacking box in a harbour silo since last tuesday (yesterday). Now we are the parents.

Best regards

Eduard

Thanks for the email & reply, Bev! Great to know our "little" guy is safe, as well as his sisters.

Brussels--only 4 in the box, but the other could be further down the ledge, or possibly could have fledged!

Wow catwoman, I've never even looked at that Huntley cam. Well I wouldn't have the patience anyway if it's only been seen once in a week.

Thanks for the picture, so different to see a falcon not on concrete.

Brussels--all the times I've visited this site & didn't know I could display it in English by clicking EN at the top of the page. Was just wondering if there have been any fledges, so I guess I'll go to the blog & find out

Brussels--this is from their blog dated 5/25/10:

One of the male young falcons fledged today at 2.30 p.m.! Getting airborne wasn’t difficult, but it quickly made for the top of the nave.

We expected that the first flights would take place on Thursday or Friday, but this young falcon outwitted us. We’re not sure, but it seems likely that the one who fledged was one of the two eldest falcons that were born on 10 April. That means that this falcon is 38 days old, in other words five weeks and a half. A young falcon weighing 40g has transformed into a falcon of 700 g over little more than a month. The other young males will follow his lead in the coming hours. And then it’s the females’ turn. This is the start of a new period. The parents will have to keep an eye on the young and feed them while they will be dispersed over the cathedral and the neighbouring houses. And then it’s time for the first flying lessons…

No update since then.
