This is depressing for sure. Maybe she is tangled up in a tree or something. Or possibly on top of a building. But it is strange that they don't hear her and have not seen the parents going to her (if I understood what they were saying). Would the adults go to the ground to feed her? Brown snakes too, good grief. So many hazards for poor little Solo. :-( I am hoping that they will see her soon. It would be devastating to just have her disappear.

OK...I'm not liking what I'm reading...I guess on a positive note, if they have indeed looked EVERYWHERE on the ground, then chances are she didn't crash and is not lying injured somewhere. (but, an hour isn't a lot of time!!!) I feel sure the parents will find her (if she is ok..)...they always do!!!

I sure do hope they mount a longer search later!!!

Hearing this is heartbreaking. And the fact that she isn't banded means that even if she shows up somewhere in the future, we won't know its her.

What a shame. Usually, from what I hear people report, if a juvie hasn't been seen for a couple of days, it's not good news, although, it's possible she'll turn up. I'm sure they have looked everywhere she could be stuck and out of sight, possibly preventing the parents from seeing her. But the fact that parents have left, too strange. Well, I'm sure they are sick about it down there too and I am sorry for all those who became so attached to her. :-(

I wonder if there are any kind of pipes or smokestacks at the facility that she could have fallen into.

This is especially tough. I had hoped for success not only for the falcons but also for this group of people who seem so committed. Ferenz is right; don't give up.

Well, this is quite distressing...but we can't give up this quickly...The fact that NO one is around is just as puzzling to me. Even if something has happened to Solo, I would think we would still see a parent going to the box periodically...makes me think that the 3 of them have somehow made it out of the immediate area...I do hope they are keeping the cam going in case a parent shows up

Well, still not the news I wanted to read...but I'm a little more encouraged that he saw the parents and they were "scolding". I'm hoping that meant they had Solo in their sights and they wanted him GONE!!!

Very weird indeed. I do hope Solo turns up soon, this is so disheartening. :-(

We’re not giving up just yet
Posted on 20-11-2010

Between Cilla and myself we’re putting in the mileage but so far no sign that there’s a little’un still nearby. There are a number of possibilities, some good and some not so good, but until we can sight Solo we can’t tick that box just yet.
Both of us spent more time today searching the area with no luck, but new photos of both parents can be found in the General Gallery #7 photo gallery to the right. Neither adult is happy with our intrusions and there’s competition with another local native species, a kookaburra, occupying a tree-based nest nearby, which makes for interesting audio on the video clips! Some videos will be uploaded tomorrow of both parents.
We will continue to monitor the surrounding area in the hope that Solo re-appears ….

These people are just great! They're even spending weekend time looking for Solo & taking the time to update the website so we're kept in the loop! I think we should send them a big online thank you card, regardless of this ending.

Thanks for the update, Mick!

I found what I think is a very appropriate card to send these wonderful people. I guess I could sign the card "from the BCAW" forum (after I sign up for the free trial). Check this link:

I would be interested in any other thank you cards if anyone else wants to look. Also, you can add you own wording, and I know we have some members that are great with words, so please post your ideas.
