Looks like you found Lil Dad at home, George. And you are right. No trains will be leaving from or coming to Harrisburg anytime soon. I'd like to go downtown to take a look at the Susquehanna, but I don't think people are allowed into the city right now. Two bridges across the river are open, but the exits into Harrisburg are flooded.

news reports here are stating that they have taken everything off of the first floor of the govornor's mansion and its basement to the second story and elsewhere including the carpeting from the first floor so it doesnt sound good. Also the folks at PEMA have declared this a level 1 emergency which hasnt been done since 9/11. Reports too say that the national guard is on duty in wilkesbare and will likely see them points south too along the susquehana river as it nears its peak

hope i finish the ark soon but at least i know where to get a couple peregrines for it

Thanks, SusanE. I am safely settled in at Don's with my son and 2 kitties. You can read about my flood adventure here: http://westwindschild.livejournal.com/115676.html.

I won't know how bad it actually is until after the creek subsides in a day or so.

Reenie, your butterfly hatching video is phenomenal! I've never seen that before and it was just beautiful!

Looks like a foggy morning out there. At least it isn't raining! Nobody home yet this morning.

Ditto Sue, and praying for everyone's safety! We have flooding, but not in our immediate area. So much to worry about. And then 9/11.

I'm not EVER getting the stick view when looking at the cam. I'm thinking strongly of trying to go downtown this afternoon to take a look at the Susquehanna, and of course looking for falcons. Can't quite figure out if people are allowed to come into the city or not. Also not sure about the parking situation. Good news is that the river is to crest a bit lower than originally forecast due to less rain yesterday than expected. Crest sometime late tonight or early tomorrow morning.

JANE, THEY SAID IF YOU DON'T "HAVE" TO GO OUT, THEN DON'T! STATE STREET IS OPEN THEY SAY, BUT CAMERON AND MARKET ARE FLOODED AND A WOMAN HAD TO BE RESCUED FROM THE WATER THERE, DROVE THROUGH IT, DUH!

Well, if I go downtown, it WOULD be over the State Street Bridge. Not sure what I'll do yet, but certainly not stupid enough to drive through standing water. And my thought is that it's NG on the cam right now.
