I am not sure if anyone here is aware that Orville's son Zeus (banded black/green B/03), born in 2006, has been identified by Chad and Chris in Elyria, Ohio. They were able to read his bands and have posted some great photos of him. He apparently has an unbanded mate. Zeus's mother is Victory.

That's great to hear and thanks for letting us know, Alison. Do you know if there is a nest box there or are they using a ledge somewhere?

I am pretty sure that there isn't a nest box available for the falcons in Elyria. Last year, there was an unbanded female in the area, and a banded male was observed a few times before he moved on; Chad and Chris commented at that time that they were not sure if there was a suitable nesting site in the area. At that time the birds were being seen around the Courthouse and bank buildings.

Thanks for the information Alison. Always good to hear news like this. I often wondered what became of Victory after her release.

Good grief, Durand is going to forget what we look like if they don't get that cam up soon. :girlcrazy:

Seriously, I miss seeing them. We need the cam fixed. :tantrum2:

I have been downtown to look for Durand and Matrix and I have not seen either one of them. My heart misses them!! I am beginning to worry about them too!! I have sent an e-mail message to Donna Daniel and asked her if she has seen them or have heard from anyone who works downtown whom might have seen them. I am anxiously awaiting her response and I will let you know what I find out. In the meantime, I know that Lindsay is working on the web cam along with others to find a way to bring the cam back on-line and looking for another benefactor who will financially support the streaming web cam. I sure hope we see one up and running by spring at the very latest

.

Thanks rosekk....I keep checking the cam every day in hopes that (at least) the refresh is back up and running...

Maybe you're right, KF...no cam, no showing off, heading to Florida for some fun in the sun...

I hope to hear from Donna too with some encouraging news; if you are both right, about the migration - SGB, start looking for them your way, they should be flying right over your house!!

I used to hear them all the time until they cut down all the trees near me...drives me crazy!!!

I have been so remiss to look here on the forum and I did not see your response to my post; I have a very hard time telling a pigeon from a falcon sometimes I could swear it was a falcon only to find out it was a pigeon - rofl. That is why it's great to take pictures. I have taken pictures of parts of buildings thinking it was a falcon too so don't feel so bad. IThis is a great opportunity to encourage you to come up to Columbus to check out fledge week as I pray that we have one this year. without the web cam, it has been so hard not knowing where Durand and Matrix are still around. According to Donna, since they are both new to the ledge, and not knowing their pattern, maybe they both have migrated since I have not seen them for a while now or maybe they are around but just out of sight. I hope to go down today and look again. I sure know how you feel about looking for the falcons and not seeing them at all; it is very frustrating.
