Attended the banding this morning. It was AWESOME!!!

2 boys & 3 girls.

Dori was caught & examined, too. She got loose in the office where they accessed the nest site, causing quite a commotion. I was watching Louie's antics at the time. He was dive-bombing the nest site. Amazing flying.

:omg :laugh2 Dori got loose..I know that's not funny, but its kinda funny!!! So, how does one go about trapping an adult falcon?

I'm so glad you got to attend and I hope you have pics!!!

Just before the event, Dori was feeding the babies oh-so-tenderly. Then came trouble. Such kakking, straifing and aerial displays!!! When I left, the babies were back in the nest, but Dori and Louie were still screaming. I could hear them as I walked down the street heading back to work.

Here are a few pics:

Peeking out the nestbox window. Oldest boy is front, right. The big weed is left, center. I was amazed at how much smaller the nest really is. It looks much bigger on cam.

It appears that the oldest boy may have fledged on Tuesday. No one has seen him since then.

Yep, they knew, and he came back for food. Looks like another has fledged, too. Here's Kate St John's great recap of Pittsburgh's fledging events:

Kate's blog

Meanwhile, I just learned yesterday that one of the female youngsters at the Gulf Tower (black tape on USFW band) was injured at Macy’s on July 1 and is now in rehab. If history is any guide, she’ll be there for a couple of months.

Thanks, Kitten! Unfortunately, its rare to hear of a whole nest of juvies surviving fledging, but there would be a whole lot less surviving if it weren't for the wonderful people who participate in fledge watches & do what they can to help these babies get a successful start.
