I wouldn't think the adults would allow an intruder to sit in "their territory"! :)

A AGREE KIM. I'M GLAD TIM SAW 3 :-) MAYBE HE KNEW ENOUGH TO GO WATCH HIS PARENTS, HE CAN PROBABLY SENSE THE STORM TOO EVEN THOUGH HE'S YOUNG.

Yeah, I guess the adults wouldn't allow an intruder to sit right there in their space. Didn't think of that before. Nobody in the box when I just checked, but that's nothing new.

Kim great seeing them! Congrats from me on your feather find. Isn't it great to find them? I have been finding many in our yard near the feeders. Found a pure black one stuck to our Grill, just a little bigger than this... O. About the size of a small pea. I'm guessing a Black Capped Chickadee. It has a nice quill on it! I check the yard everyday! Blue Jay and Cardinal too.

Glad you saw Red Girl this morning, Kim. And that's really great about finding a falcon feather. One of my prized possessions is a bright red gorget feather from an Anna's Hummingbird that I held in my hand in Arizona while a man was banding hummers.

How cool to hold a hummingbird, Jane! I'm glad you had that experience. I also add my congratulations for Kim's falcon feather find. That would be awesome and I hope to find one someday, fallen from molting, not anything negative. I have a better chance of finding one from a red-tail hawk though as one lives in our neighborhood and has perched on our roof a few times and in our neighbor's front yard.

Yes Kim, great catch of CJ and RG bowing (I never seem to be able to catch either of them in the box lately). And great news from Tim about his sighting of 3 falcons. It's good to know that one of the kids is still in town.

I've been trying to get caught up on the forum before we lose power from Irene, which I'm quite certain we will. So it was good to read about all the bird sightings, falcon menu items, and feathers. We certainly have a knowledgeable group of members on this forum!

BTW - While I've personally never seen an Anna's hummingbird, there's one darling one named Phoebe that raises multiple broods (usually around 5) from October through June each season in California. While the live cam is off during Phoebe's "off" season, there are some cute pictures there from earlier this year.

I know what you mean about computers and technology! Phoebe the hummingbird is so cute to watch - usually before her chicks fledge, she's already busy building a new nest or renovating a previous one. If you're interested in seeing and reading about Phoebe's nests in 2011, they're in the Hummingbirds topic on the forum.
