Some good news about one of this year's Lansing juvies. On September 18, a juvie peregrine was photographed at the Hoover reservoir, just north of Columbus. The photographer was a local birder, Bob Baran.

The bands are black/red 12/P, and these bands belong to Bernard from Lansing!

The original information is from Irinash on the Cleveland forum; she received an I.D. on the juvie from Barb Baldinger.

The band number 12/P was also Orville's band number, although of course his band was black/green.

Juanita posted a great chart showing Bernard's ancestry. His ancesters include some very famous peregrines: Freedom and Roosevelt, Mercury and Baltimore, Mary Ellen and River Ace, Bandit and Aurora, and Leopold and Raynie.

Hi all!

My husband and I will be visiting my mom in Mt. Pleasant at the end of October for a few days. I would love to take a day and go to Lansing and possibly see if we can spot this peregrine. Is the location of this nest box public? I know that at that time of the year the chances of seeing a falcon is small but I'd like to check it out. Is it easy to find and is there a good place to spot them from?

I will let someone who knows answer the question about the location of the nestbox, but I do know that at least the female is here year-round & doesn't migrate. So if you can access the area, there is a good chance you will be able to at least see her. I'll PM a couple of people who live near this nest & tell them about your question, Suzanne!
