Goodnight sweetheart

At the next refresh she was out of view, probably in the box.

I do not follow this site but 2 things.

1. I bet it was a hawk they found. We have picked up many a hawk that people swore up and down was a peregrine.

I sure hope you see your beloved Roosevelt. :girlluv:

2. And I saw a comment on that site about pigeons. Pigeons will hang out where they please. They are always flying off the roof at Weber and Clinical science. We call them Kawasaki(sp) pigeons. Just 2 days ago, they were roosting on roof on one corner of WEber and a peregrine on another.

Thanks Bev!
A note of cheer from you- not that I'm cheered that a hawk might have lost it's life - but that it might not be our Roosevelt!
(that sure came out upside down and backwards)

I hope we do too, Bev...and you're right about people misidentifying birds...and speaking of that, if you haven't already, could you please check out this. Picture of something NOT a falcon.

Juanita posted the following on Soarin Hawk yesterday:

Charmaine, is it possible to check where you saw the bird's body? If the remains are still there, the bands should still be there if is was Roosevelt.

I certainly hope this Charmaine person sees Juanita's question...

When I first saw the pic of the guy in Freedom's & Roosevelt's frontyard, I thought maybe someone sent him up to look for Roosevelt, but apparently not since it appears that he's doing some work up there. He should really have a hardhat on.

I hope Charmaine sees Juanita's message, too.

I looked up hawks in USA and it looks like a red shouldered hawk. I thought of this because of long tail

I think this must be Freedom; the other pics showed only the very top of her head, and then she was gone.

I don't want to think that Roosevelt is gone, but it has been such a long time since we have seen him. I don't think there was a territorial battle of any kind, and there has been no sign of another male around the nest. I think that if something happened to him, it may have been that his health started to fail.

I don't believe that he would ever leave Freedom for any reason. They have always had an exceptionally strong bond; just looking at Roosevelt's eyes as he looked at Freedom showed how strong that bond always has been.

Alison, I think you're right about Roosevelt not leaving Freedom for any reason...

I think Freedom is spending every night sleeping in the box--we just can't see her since the cam isn't pointed on the box. She has been caught a number of times entering the box at night & exiting in the morning.
