Michael finally got off the critical list and out of the ICU. He is still very confused - probably from the 9 days on Geodon. Yesterday he was miserable, so I know he's getting better, but it's going to go very slowly. He will probably be in the hospital for the rest of the month (at least). I knew pancreatitis was bad, but I never knew that it takes months to recover and it is very life-threatening. I have over 25 years in the medical field and I'm still learning stuff!

Anyway, I was downtown today and stopped to check on Fancy and Groucho. I did get to see both of them. I will post some pics later. They are still around downtown, but I don't think she has laid any eggs yet. She is just not spending as much time in the nestbox as she should if she had eggs. I believe she has been thrown off schedule by the construction going on in the building. Hopefully, she will get settled and get going on the next additions to the family. She is fine and healthy, so we should see eggs soon...This has been a weird year all around...

Glad Michael is now on the road to recovery. I can understand that he's miserable being trapped in a hospital for that long. Will they allow him to have a laptop in the hospital? Maybe you can introduce him to bird cams to help him pass the time! :egg17:

Sue, glad to hear he's getting better! I can't imagine being in the hospital that long, but it sounds like you are doing a great job nursing him. Hopefully things will settle down with Fancy and Groucho soon.

Sue, that is wonderful news about Michael...Pancreatitis is no joke!!! Long hospital stay and lots of meds..(went thru it with my mom...full recovery!!)

I'm glad you've seen Fancy and Groucho...the times I've checked the cam, I have found no one in the box, so I think you may be right about there being no eggs...but who knows, we may be surprised if a head pops up...looking forward to your pics...

It does seem unusual for Fancy and Groucho not to have eggs:

Alison - They were doing building maintenance on the building in March, so it has put Fancy off schedule. Why they couldn't do the maintenance earlier in the year is beyond me. I wouldn't want to have to put up with Fancy and Groucho dive bombing me while I was up on the top of the building. Fancy is fierce (and she has very, very sharp talons). At any rate, I'm thinking that this year is a good argument to finally get another camera up there IN the nestbox. We have to figure out how to get the funding...

No eggs. George M and Jeff Gilka went up there last weekend and verified it. Strangely, Fancy did not even show up while they were there. Fancy and Groucho have been hanging around the nestbox. We aren't quite sure why there are no eggs this year; however, there could be lots of factors. We aren't really sure how old Fancy and Groucho are. Neither of them are banded. Also, there was a lot of commotion on the building in March, which may have upset them. Another reason may be that there was an intruder there for a while and there may have been a war going on that upset them. Who knows? It's been a strange year all over...
