Good morning everyone - I am sorry that I was not able to post my great story from last night so I am sharing my experience this morning.

Last evening, I was downtown as usual to transfer buses to head home. I try to head over to the statehouse steps to look up at the ledge to see if anyone was home. Well, I did just that and sure enough there was a falcon on the ledge and my bus was sitting across the street. Knowing the birds as I do, or at least I like to think I do, I figured he would be there for ever so I ran for the bus. As I was waiting to cross the street, the bus drove by - lol. That gave me the opportunity to go back and to watch him/her sit on the ledge. I reached the steps of the statehouse, put my bag down and looked up with my binoculars and as I did, the falcon flew off the ledge - usually they fly off in such a hurry and I lose them but this time - amazing - I think it was Matrix, he soared around in a circle just floating in front of the building; it was as if I was watching in slow motion, he was so beautiful just floating in the air - (do you think I had my camera? NO -he made a big circle going back toward the ledge. I thought he would land again but he didn't, he headed down Broad Street and I kept him in my sights until the tree got in the way and he disappeared. I have never seen such a beautiful sight as long as I have been watching the falcons so I was so thrilled. It was as if he was showing off for me! I just wish I had my camera to catch the moment; the encounter it will ever be in my heart and mind

thank you Mick and SGB - yes, I was a little disappointed that I missed the bus but I was definitely ok with it when I was watching Matrix soar off the ledge. I will definitely have to carry the camera although I am not even sure I could have had it out in time to catch the flight. I have to carry my binocs all the time or I feel naked? rofl!!

Love the machine/hate the machine.

Great photos pearl1. Thank you!
Matrix is very attentive, in the way that Durand deserves. He's not afraid to look her in the eye either. I think that these 2 are going to carry on the legacy of exceptional pairs on this ledge.

(pearl1. I'm going to take one of these photos to RRP forum, giving credit to you at BCAW.)

Heads up rosekk. Get your bins out.

Edit: Opps, Looks like Alison aready posted this in the Lansing topic, but I'll leave it here too since it has a Columbus connection.

This info posted at CMNH by irinash on Sep 19.
A juvenile has been seen at the Hoover Reservoir, just N of Columbus, and a local birder Bob Baran got a pic with the bands.
Identified as "Bernard" 2011, 12/P, 12 over Red P, Lansing MI.

His relatives include Bandit & Aurora, Freedom & Roosevelt. Ancestry info provided by Juanita.
