I have another - no camera - sighting from last night -I plan to take my camera on Wednesday - it's heavy and hard to carry - lol :tantrum2:

I was waiting and waiting and waiting on the 6:00 pm bus that never came btw - I was checking out the downtown buildings and lo and behold - wow - I think that is a falcon on the Hyatt hotel sitting on the very top of the roof - then I thought - no that's only part of the building; I kept watching and sure enough it was a falcon - I think it was Durand because she seemed so large. It was so funny because twice a large flock of pigeons flew right over her in a circle - twice. That is why I was not even sure that it was a bird there - and then here comes the other one - flying onto the roof behind her and out of sight. Still no bus - then the one on the roof flew off and down to a lower roof and the other one flew around but disappeared. Within about 30-60 seconds Durand was flying again - wide wing span - so awesome - she came flying toward the Rhodes but I lost her in the tree so I am not sure where she took off too. I did not see her fly onto the ledge but she might have. finally my bus came so I had to get on it and get home for a meeting. this morning on my way back to work, I heard their calling but I could not see anyone as it was still rather dark - I sure hope that when I have my camera on Wednesday that I have the same kind of opportunity that I have had the last couple of days - awesome!!

I carried my camera to work this morning and then back downtown in hopes that I would find a falcon or two downtown. I arrived downtown at 6:00 pm and walked over to my spot on the statehouse steps, no one on the Hyatt, no one on the ledge, then I scanned the other hot spots and lo and behold, there on the bank in the next block from the Rhodes tower was a falcon sitting on the corner of the roof and wait - am I seeing another one? Maybe it's only a pigeon - well I quickly got out the camera and started taking pictures -

I was watching these two for about 15 minutes - my bus comes at 6:20 - well about 6:13 there was some falcon calling - I did not see anything but one of them kept up some kind of alarm call while the one on the corner just sat there. I figured something would happen soon so I kept my camera on him/her and I did not see the other fly off. Now (I wish I had gotten up and moved down the street closer to the building to maybe get better pictures - I just never knew when things would happen From these pictures you can barely see them

Here are a few pictures of the one from the corner flying off the building - It could have been Durand - she took off rather low and flew around the Rhodes tower - I lost her after that - then my bus came and I went home -

I am sorry, the pictures are not that great - they look better in the camera because you can zoom closer and I am not great at editing them - my bf did it - maybe he could not get too large before they were a little blurry so I am really disappointed in the pictures - I will try again! I sure admire everyone like Chad and Chris, Reenie, George and Irina who get remarkable pictures -

Wonderful pictures rosekk!! Please don't be disappointed. Those of us not from Columbus never get the chance to see her flying in the open air like that. Thank you so much for taking the pictures of her. She's beautiful in flight :loveshow:

I am really happy to see both Durand and Matrix especially in flight - I seem to be seeing a pattern too, every time I see them it is around 6:00 so I plan to be downtown today at around 6:00 to see if I can find them and perhaps get a few more pictures - thank you all for your kind words of encouragement - it gives me a boost to go back and try again. I do love them in flight - they are both very majestic and I truly wish that you all could be here in Columbus to watch them with me. That is why it was so special to have Pearl1 here this past summer and Beth and Susan a few years ago and Anna who works downtown. If we have a nest this spring, you are all welcome to come and help with the fledge watch.

In case you did not notice, on my first couple of pictures there are actually two birds in the picture, one of them is to the right on the bank roof ledge

I was downtown last evening at around 6:00 hoping that my theory was correct that Durand and Matrix would be around; unfortunately, I did not see either of them. I thought about going down by the river but the camera is so heavy and I had my bag with my stuff in it which is sort of heavy too; hopefully I can go down this weekend when parking is free and check them out. I will be down this afternoon but no camera today.

I have been hearing alot of bats lately, around our park at home and downtown around the statehouse in the trees - everyone else sees them but my eye sight in the dark is pretty bad so I can't see them.
