That CJ certainly is a cutie in Kim's pictures. I love the way he's always scraping - and looking like a little bat - in the nest box.

So what happened with that unbanded male Reenie? Did NG get him to go in the scrape with her?

NOT THAT I SAW KIM, BUT HE WAS HANGING AROUND THE LEDGE. HE SEEMS VERY CAUTIOUS ABOUT THE LEDGE, BUT THEN AGAIN, SO DID NG WHEN SHE FIRST CAME. NOT SURE, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE HE'S THERE THIS MORNING AGAIN :-( SURE WISH WE HAD THE LIVE CAM!

A falcon was on the box ledge a few minutes ago, Red Girl I think. Now the falcon is gone from there but one (maybe the same) is on the southeast corner of the Brandywine Building.

Plucked pigeon feathers on the Market St. sidewalk in front of the Dupont building yesterday.

I finally caught one in the box this morning! Red Girl was in there for a while and she was doing some talking so I'm guessing CJ was on the ledge or not too far away! :)

At11:30 am a peregrine was on the box ledge facing out (Red Girl I think) and one was on the southeast roof corner (CJ I think).

They've been eating pigeons all week, all apparently caught where the pigeons roost on the Dupont Building facing 11th Street and Rodney Square. At a rate of one pigeon a day there aren't enough there to last all winter.

GREAT CATCH KIM! I CAN NEVER CATCH THEM. THANKS FOR YOUR REPORT GREG, I'M SURE THEY WILL SWITCH TO ANOTHER BIRD IF THE PIGEONS ARE ALL GONE, LOL!

Thanks for posting the picture of Red Girl from Friday, Kim. And Greg, are there only 90 pigeons in Wilmington? Live ones, I mean. :hollaugh:

Thanks for catching Red Girl in the nest box, Kim! Lately it's been just CJ there.

And thanks, Greg, for keeping us posted on the falcons' meals. I wonder if and when they'll get tired of their all-pigeon diet.

Lots of pigeons in Wilmington, although less than formerly. Only about 15 or 20 roosting on the DuPont Building where the falcons have been catching them the last two weeks.

For all I know the falcons could be flying out to the Delaware River and catching ducks or gulls. We'd never know because prey that size is too big to carry back to their home base downtown.

Thanks for the food postings Greg. Maybe they could catch from the Peterson area, or the Zoo area, where I saw one fly one time, coming up on 95.

Glad you found Red Girl at home this morning, Kim. I think I'd faint if I saw anyone home when I check in.
