ccording to Linda and Zoe, William fledged late yesterday
afternoon. I arrived on site at 7:20am to find an adult and
juvenile on the north west corner of 130 Adelaide. Earlier in the
morning, three juveniles were visible on the nest ledge via the
webcam. When I viewed the building from the 43rd floor of the
hotel, nothing was visible. The adult had disappeared. I waited
around for some time and the juvenile appeared from under the north
east corner. It was hidden from view. I couldn’t see if it was
William because the white tape was not visible with the double
window panes. I eventually relocated to the south east corner of
the City Hall square. From time to time, I could see the juvenile
on 130 Adelaide. It made a few attempts to run along the ledge,
flapping all the time. It could well have been William. Normal
adult activity was seen as well.

Zoe arrived and took up the courtyard at 130 Adelaide. The juvenile
did not appear again. Hopefully the afternoon crew can establish
the identity of the juvenile on 130 Adelaide.

two on ledge right now

I could see no one this morning, but here is yesterdasy report

!!! Cinnamon Takes Flight!
June 19, 2011 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre
Linda Woods Reports:

After taking over the watch from Zoe, and keeping an eye on William. I ventured up to the 43rd to have a birds eye view of the movements. Around 3:30p.m. Sunshine did a food exchange with Rhea Mae! At 6:15p.m., Keeping my eye on William and scanning the roof tops, I saw some movement on the upper level of 120 Adelaide St. At first I thought it was Sunshine, but saw that it was looking a little unsteady. A close look at the glowing red tape on the leg band confirmed it was Cinnamon! SURPRISE! Good landing. He wandered about that area, before settling down on the north west facing silver strut, where he laid down for the night. Kate had a good chow down and the entire nest ledge to herself for a short time, before Sunshine returned to the nest ledge.

William remained on the lower structure of the Sheraton Hotel, and that is where, hopefully he will be in the morning.

Good Luck Harry!

Observation for Toronto - Sheraton Centre

!!! William found
June 19, 2011 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre
Harry Crawford Reports:

At 7:20am, I found Kate and Cinnamon on the nest ledge, visible from
120 Adelaide. A short time later, Sunshine appeared on the roof,
just above the nest ledge. She hopped down to the ‘S’ and started
to make her was over to the ‘t’ of Centre. Apparently, one of the
adults had stashed prey there. Sunshine started to clean the prey!
Feathers were going everywhere.

As much as I would have liked to stay and watch, this was an
opportunity to go up to the 43rd floor of the hotel and see if I
could spot our missing William. After checking a dozen or more roof
tops, I found him on the south ledge of the lower level portion of
the Sheraton Centre. I quickly went down to the courtyard south of
the hotel and began watching. When Zoe arrived, she continued
watching William while I went back to the front of 120 Adelaide to
watch the nest ledge in case one of the remaining two fledged.

This could be an interesting and challenging day for Zoe and the
afternoon crew.

I am sorry to hear about poor little William. So sad that they meet their fate so quickly sometimes. It is not fair.
:sosad

I pray the other juvies here remain safe.

so this is Cimmaron and Kate.
Cimmaron had to be rescued.

good start to the day. CPF received a call stating that a banded bird was found near the base of the tall buildings on Bay St. in downtown Toronto. I was dispatched to investigate and it is confirmed that the young bird is indeed, William from the Sheraton Toronto Nest Site. Don’t have much more information regarding his collision.

Later in the day, another call was received and once again I was dispatched to the “Keg” on York St. Cinnamon had come to the sidewalk! Quick thinking and mindful staff of both the Keg and Oxford Properties who knew what to do. They carefully place Cinnamon in a box and secured the area until I could get there. Zoe and Annie retrieved the rescue carrier and delivered to the site and I transferred Cinnamon from the cardboard box and into the top of the line pet carrier, that Jan Chudy donated to the cause a few years ago. On quick examination there didn’t appear to be any injuries. I gave him a little water and he was placed in a cool quiet area to rest. Mark Nash arrived on site to do a full examination, and my goodness… CUTE as a button, he’s a doll. Mark did a final full examination and Cinnamon was good to go back to the nest ledge to join his sister, Kate. That was completed by 11:00p.m.

Sunshine continues to do very well. It appears she may be venturing further away from the nesting area. She didn’t return to the nest ledge for the night, but was seen earlier in the evening.

Kate remains on the nest unfledged. She still has a little more fluff on the top of her legs. I was surp

last nihgt, I caught all 3 on ledge

you can barely see other one. so Sunshiny might have made it home after rain

I am wondering if sunshine is a male. Remember Sabrina from Rochester that was flying so strong before the others and she turned out to be a he , when found at a nest site. this would make more sense to me right now.

I am so sorry about the loss of little William; poor little guy. There have been so many very sad losses this year.

I see above that Cinnamon has been rescued again; hope he is okay.
