Google helped:

Hello *Vogelvrij*, if I understand it will S2 where she was found injured, be expelled (as her recovery and rehabilitation was successful).
I think they will fly back to the Mortel and she must enter into a confrontation with OR2.
This is a fight.
If she survives, she will re-settle elsewhere.
So it goes in nature, the strongest wins.
PA will have nothing to contribute, however I hope so.

I think I can not translate, perhaps Suzannee helps, if required, thanks in advance.

My English isn't perfect, but I'll try to help you with the translation a bit there:

So it will be a fight to the death, she will gain everything or nothing? Won't it be possible that she will lose the fight, but still survive? At least S2 has some experience with fighting... And even when she will win, she'll live somewhere else, according to you?

@Vogelvrij, ik ben geen expert, misschien verkiest S2 te vertrekken, boven het gevecht.
Als ze die kans krijgt.
Mijn idee is dat OR2 een heel felle vogel is en S2 is natuurlijk in het nadeel.

Google:
@ Vogelvrij, a.o. I'm not an expert, maybe S2 prefer to leave, above the battle.
If she get the opportunity.
My idea is that a very bright bird OR2 and S2 is obviously at a disadvantage.

BCAW: Sorry for my translation.

It's just awfully difficult to post in two languages at the same time, no worry about the quality of the translations...

But I guess you're right when you're saying that S2 has a huge disadventage because of the surgery she has had. Well, we'll see, we'll see... So far it's been going well, at least.

I'm sure S2's physical condition will be considered in deciding when to release her, so hopefully she will have spent some time flying & strengthening herself before she goes back to DeMortel. Also, the territorial fights aren't necessarily to the death. I was quite surprised at the outcome of the fights between Tasha2 and Dori at Gulf Towers. Tasha2 even had 2 eggs, but was defeated by Dori & lost her nest. She did survive, however, & she was around 12 years old, not a youngster like S2.

I am also very concerned about what is going to happen when/if S2 is released, but you never know. We were concerned last year because a tiercel at a nest in Cleveland had been injured & had spent a long time in rehab, & meanwhile a much-loved tiercel who was born at the Columbus nest and whom we followed during his fledging took over the nest site. We were very worried about this, because we loved both tiercels & were worried that one would be injured or worse when the injured tiercel was released from rehab. As it turned out, he didn't go back to his nestsite (as far as we know).

The age of S2 is not really known though, is it?

I am not certain, but we may not know her age exactly, but there will data about when she was ringed, so at least we will get a minimum age, and she has been around De Mortal for a few years now. I am sure someone will have a bettter indication of age though.

She came spring 2007 in the Mortel.
She is born and ringed in Belgian
Age? I think she was 2 years old in 2007, bus I'll ask.... just a moment

Aniet had the info:
S2 was born in 2005
in Belgium
in SERAING
and ringed in the nest

thanks Trudy and aniet. I thought she was a young one when she first turn up, so I guess it was her first breeding year when she ousted Ma from the tower. But she had to wait another year before raising her own.

Our peregrine man in Holland, Peter van Geneijgen, who bands most of the dutch peregrines from of the beginning, told me that we can absolutely count on it that S2 will return immediately home, as soon as she is released. Peter has had the same experience with other peregrines, especially one female who had to go a very long way to go home: she did just a bit of preening, and then, go!!

(the plan of VWGemert until now is that S2 will be released at the place where she was found if she recovers).

Thanks for the report from Peter adriaantje.

We also try to release a rehabbed bird where we found it. The difference is that we generally do not know the history so there is no attachment. If they are juvies with no territory we often release them on site and often we see them returning for a free dinner when Chris goes out to feed the raptors. He never disappoints them!

it's 2 OR Trudy (not OR2).
The Germans read the band the other way around.

I am sure we have those lovely pastoral scenes here in the States, but I sure haven't seen them. I need to start looking! Thanks Els!

Those are just gorgeous pics, Els!!!! Seeing the one of the fall colors gets me all excited!!! I am so ready for Fall!!!

I know we're probably getting ahead of ourselves, but I am so nervous about S2's release. I have no doubt she will head straight to the tower...I do hope this new female is easily intimidated and that both females use good sense...(yea right...)
