:spring1: Watched Dandy and Spur this morning and both look great. Watched Dandy do a walk-about the nest, so big and strong and impressive!! Saw Spur walking out of bole area and while smaller naturally, he has strong-looking musculature!!

:teehee: Just caught Spur bonk Dandy for accidently bumping into him and waking him up. Dandy gave a quick bonk back and they both settled.

:taz: Finally, the nest cam is back and they have restored the chat here. Dandy and Spur are huge! There is a problem for them though. Go to 10:31 on the DVR and you can see a juvie fly in and try to steal from the pantry. Spur and Dandy saw it coming and tried to mantle the food, but you can see a fish clasped in it's talon as it makes it's way around them. I could not tell if it still had it when it flew. From chat this is it's 3rd visit to the nest tree. Apparently it landed in the tree a few days ago and then into the nest previous to steal food. I did not see Nic and Vic during this visit. This juvie looks as if it could be the same age as Dandy and Spur, unless you see it fly in, you can not see much difference in the 3. Obviously, it has fledged and is flying is the only difference I can see in the 3!!

:buzzybee: The visiting juvie has not been back today to steal food from the nest as I posted about above, most likely because one of the parents has remained on the tree this morning. But, things are not looking good for this cam to continue:

Eagle Country

Dear Eagle Country Friends,

We are sorry to inform you that after replacing our entire network system and other extensive troubleshooting, it appears that the problem is with the cameras themselves, and not entirely YouTube. As you are aware, we cannot access the cams until after the season.

For as long as the cam(s) are running consistently, we will have them online. That does change throughout the day, but the afternoons seem to be worse. However, for the sake of your sanity and because of the multiple alerts (by YouTube) each time they come back online, we will take the cams offline if they begin to malfunction. If that should happen and we can get snapshots or short videos, we will be sure to share those with you. Eaglecountry.net also will have HD video as the cams are online.

We have exhausted our resources and unless we can recover this season’s expenses, we won’t be able to move forward with new cams next season. We do not have corporate sponsors or large sums of money. Sometimes, it just helps to know the facts.

Having said that, for those of you who have given, we appreciate it so much as it has helped to defer the cost of this season’s set up. You all have been the greatest! We have enjoyed sitting down to a cup of coffee and watching the lives of these courageous eagles together.

We have learned from you, laughed with you and hoped with you... especially for Spur :)!

We sincerely hope we are able to come back to you next season, new and improved! So, we will keep you updated as we know more.

:buzzybee: Accidental fledge for Dandy this morning! She's on the ground and they are watching for now. I don't think she had actually branched yet ... Here's a video from Eagle Country:

Message from Eagle Country: Dandy accidently "fludged" this morning when s/he took a flying leap across the nest at 9:08:44 and misjudged her distance. S/he is just sitting on the ground and we'll see how all of this plays out!

Currently, cam 2 is showing Dandy on the ground. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvVSdKkQJC0

At approx 11:35 EDT, one of the parents brought a fish to the nest and you could hear a lot of squeeing and as I was watching cam 2 at the time, I saw Dandy looking upward toward the nest. I went to cam 1, but Spur was looking downward and not eating the fish.

Edit to add: Various messages from Eagle Country from chat:

We actually won't/aren't allowed to interfere. We'll just continue to monitor from the cams.

Dandy is walking around, and it appears s/he's doing ok

For any new watchers, Dandy is just a few feet from the base of the tree. Those are blackberry bushes around it.

Currently, Dandy is 20 feet from the nest tree and 4-5 feet off the ground on a branch of a tree lying on the ground per Eagle Country. Can still be seen on cam 2.

The cams are down. I don't know if this is purposeful or just a usual part of the difficulties with the cams consistently running as it is usually worse in the afternoons here. Eagle Country is receiving increasing pressure from some of those commenting on their facebook to allow rescue. The fear is predation of Dandy. I think they disabled chat when the comments became too much over the bonking earlier in the season. And now they are getting this pressure on top of the financial difficulties of keeping these cams up. I wonder sometimes if they will think it is worth it to continue ....

Excerpt of Eagle Country's response when asked about cams being down from a few minutes ago:

"As soon as we can put them back online, we will. We do apologize."

Dandy found 1/2 mile from nest on a neighbor's property in the woods last evening. Dandy is on a pile of pallets maybe, but off the ground! Here's a capture that Eagle Country shared possibly from a video. I believe the neighbor sent them the video that I don't know how or can't bring here. It can be seen on their FB.

 From Eagle Country: Dandy is perching in Cam 2 tree. And just for reference, s/he is probably 45-50 feet off the ground! Dandy's adventures continue. From that vantage point, who knows what s/he's planning!

i knew it would be o.k. . It probably flew form where it was and that was a good flight. under guidance of adults it would find its way back. A good motivator is always food. they can hear calls for a long ways.

I have been following on Fb. I was going to say yesterday that it probably flew and so was out of view. I remember the one from south Florida and its antics before it got up high again.
It i sgood so many know of th e eagles in the area.
