Nic brought in a part of an egret (EC thinks) a little less than an hour ago and placed it a bit in front of the nest bole on the right side. So it looks as if white feathers are everywhere, but you could still see the little one. Vic remained on duty. Nic returned @ 7:02 to the back branch, eventually hopping onto the nest and is eating supper as I leave.

I am really hoping we have had a hatch through the night. I hear chirping, but I can not say it is more than one. Yesterday afternoon I noticed her looking intently beyond the 1st chick in the bole when she was up and wondered if something was going on for her. Come on daylight!

Already 2 feeds of fish to the little one from Nic this morning since the shift change. After the 1st feed, I saw Nic pull the whole fish out of the right side of the nest bole! :10val: I still can not see signs of a 2nd hatch, but the egg appears to be in the left far corner of the bole from the parents interactions.

Vic came to a branch with a whopper of a fish a little bit ago! She ate for awhile, then flew to the nest and flopped it atop part of the egret. She is on duty. I've noticed Nic is a pro with his feeds this morning, you can tell he is well-experienced and loves to feed his baby!!

It's official!! :hatchegg: :hatchegg: The eldest is "Dandy" and the new baby is "Spur" per Eagle Country!!

Spur was 1st seen @ 1:35 pm (I think) by Eagle Country or @ least his talon and the wee tip of feathers standing upright on his head were. You can see some of his head @ about 3:53 on the DVR on You Tube. I was not able to go back to when 1st seen. Dandy is from dandelion and Spur is from sandspur - because they are in Florida, Eagle Country says. Eagle Country are also very proud parents!! Speaking of burrs, I thought I saw one on Nic's underside toward his tail this morning ... I hope it wasn't though. Nic pulls a big chunk of shell up @ the end of 4:14 pm after a struggle with it!

Have you all noticed how Nic seems to do most of the care during the day here? And she brings in some whoppers of a fish though!!

Thread renamed Eagle Country - SWFL. :loveshow: Thanks for the suggestion, SWINWK!

Hope this alleviates some of the confusion with the Dick Pritchett nest!

:14val: Nic is currently on duty! I went back on the DVR and found Vic brooding with Nic standing to the right of the bole. He stood there a very long time. Finally he musters the courage @ approx 6:55 and pulls up a fish. They seemed to have a minor spat and snapped @ each other! It seemed she did not want him to have that fish. He eats there sometimes @ dusk before going to a limb for the night. She got up and left ... and he ate before he went to brood the bobbleheads!!

:16val: Feeds by both parents this morning beginning with Vic's @ 6:34 with both getting bites each feed and no bonking. Spur is surprisingly strong too!

:7val: When I watched feeds yesterday morning, I did not see bonking. However, it has started and this video by Eagle Country yesterday afternoon shows the harmless bout with the upset!! It is adorable, bonking and all!! When you think the video is over ... it is not ... the victor's food coma is shown!

There have been problems with cam 1 since I was here earlier this morning, but online again. Already 2 feeds with last one both parents attempting to feed, but I could only see 1 head up as I think the other 1 was already in a food coma, but unsure. Hoping the problems with cam 1 are over!!

Caught a feed from the DVR where Dandy got the bites and was well-positioned to do so, but Spur scored several @ the end as Dandy backed off some. Dandy continues to bonk during the feeds, but Spur had enough and starting bonking Dandy from behind. :10val: Spur refuses to be deterred!! The pressure of all the bonks from both seem to be just enough to say, "no ... this one is mine"!!

:7val: Nic spent the night brooding the chicks last night while Vic remained on the back branch in view. When I was here very early this morning before dawn, I noticed Nic kept waking and taking peeks of Mom on the branch sleeping and I wondered if he wanted her to take a turn brooding, but she never woke and offered. Feeds continue today in same fashion with both scoring bites. :16val:

:1val: Here's a video called "Dandy takes a Tumble!" 3/13/19 by Eagle Country:

Comments under video:

"Dandy is really moving around the nest and wanting to see OUT of the nest! (S)he started moving and trying to sit up and took a tumble and rolled right back nest to Victoria! At just 7 days old, (s)he's grown SO much!"
