Thanks Bev. I was getting worried. I had not seen Ma since the early morning switch. Then I saw your post that she was spotted by the ground crew...whew. I just saw her come in to take over the eggs. Dad gave her such a nice long 3 hr break. What a great pair. :15heartbeat:

She needed that. She was stiff with that L leg this morning and did not want to put weight on it....probably quite arthritic from the old injury. Weather very wet and rainy.

724am - Early morning switch. Mom with soft vocals as Dad came in...they got louder and squeaky as she got up. L leg probably painful from the weather and laying on it.

725am - Mom did a one-footed hop to a branch and off loaded the L leg, flexing the foot as she perched.

1120am - Mom wants back on the eggs.

1121am - Mom rolls the eggs and positions to resume incubating.

mom has been on since shortly after 11. dad did bring in a coot foot which mom gobbled right away.
ground crew, says dad has been perched in several places close by. The dry gully behind nest is now full of water. hope it does no t snow tonight as it i s to get cool

around 11pm tonight , dad called to mom. sh e finally called back. she is sound asleep now and it is dry.

Dad gives her such a nice break each morning. Mom was just alarm calling at 1134am. This went on for a good couple of minutes with Dad joining her nest side. All seems calm now.

1136am - Dad comes nest side and Mom stands up over the eggs in alert mode. Dad left 10 min later to Mom's soft vocals.

dad came back and gave mom a break and now mom i s back at2:40pm sh e brought in some grasses with her.

I know there are people there today so will see what they have to say

i guess when was alarm calling and dad came on left branch also, there was a juvie flying over nest and behind.

mom had a lot of breaks today. This was great as she needed it.

ground crew confirmed it was a juvie. flew overhead and around back.

mom had some nice breaks today. I di d notice they both had good crops. dad brought in a late afternoon treat which mom polished off and took one more break before coming in for the night

dad has been on since just after 12 and mom just came back. It is really pouring now

Ma brought in a small fish from her break earlier this morning and ate it.

mom is out again but when she came back a bit ago she brought a branch with pine it. It is at 5 clock., by nest.

Beautiful day at the nest today. Sunny...no wind. A calm morning. The night shift ended at 722am with Dad coming in and giving Mom a nice 3 hr break. He repositioned on the eggs frequently with lots of egg rolling. At 1030am, Mom returns. There is a rather stiff rabbit in the pantry, but Dad came in at about 1130am with what I believe is half a squirrel. Mom was quite excited with vocals, but chose to stay on the eggs. She is still incubating now. I really love how these two communicate. Her soft vocals are so sweet and despite her awkward leg, she is so careful getting on and off the eggs. All is well this morning. :15heartbeat:

Wish I knew how to do videos, just saw Pa's breath on cam when he spoke toward the end of the 8:13 am mark. Went back on DVR to be sure. Don't know who he was talking to as I don't see Ma.

Oh, my, such terrific updates! I'm with you - the communication between this pair is wonderful! It still amazes me how well Mom does - and the nice long breaks that Pa gives her is heartwarming!

mom just brought in a lot o f grasses and spread them all around her. She must know something we don't weather wise.

I check in on them 2-3 times daily. So happy they are doing well. Not as long to wait as we did have for first bobblehead!! :flirty:
