:eggthumb: Pa to the nest at 7:37 this evening. He stumbled in over a pine cone on the floor and really didn't do anything during his stay. He went to the left branch and flew out at 7:43.

:omg Edit to add: Can't believe I forgot to post about the snake visit. It was a long one able to pretty much reach rail to rail. It spent several minutes slithering in and out of view over and around the rails and a rear right, branch and across the nest and circling back around, then over the right rails and out of view. It was identified by a couple of the men chatters here as a rat snake. It drew a crowd on chat!

:eggthumb: Pa to the left branch at 12:20 this afternoon, then down to the nest. He looked around and stood mainly. Pa to the left branch and he flew out at 12:57.

:15heartbeat: There were not any eagle visits today that I am aware of. But, I did hear some eagle chatter a few minutes back on the DVR.

:dancingegg: Just wanted to point out the juvie kestrels have discovered the nest here as they do each year after fledging. They are a whole lot of fun to watch with their antics especially when more than 1 is about. It is for a short time however, maybe lasting only 2-4 days.

Edit to add: The juvies seen so far all appear to be females (3). Last evening in the 7 o'clock hour while 2 were on the nest, one saw Mom flying in and alerted and they both scrammed. Mom arrived on the nest alerting and seemed upset they had been on the nest. Soon she was dive-bombed, possibly by a parent kestrel, but action was too quick to discern if an adult or juvies. Mom continued to cry out at intervals and the kestrels could be heard fussing in the distance. Even after Mom flew from the nest for several minutes all could be heard.

Then during the 8 o'clock hour, Pa arrived and you could hear kestrels about that also seemed to cause him some concern. Mom arrived shortly and they aerated and almost got into a snipping match. She left after about 5 minutes. Pa remained on the nest aerating and moving sticks on the rails. He flew after a total stay of almost 15 minutes.

:eggthumb: Yesterday on Tuesday, June 7th Pa did make an early morning visit to the nest. Then the kestrels took over especially in the afternoon. There were as many as 3 female juvies out and about the nest and branches. Then a welcome surprise as their brother showed up to check things out!

:loveheart: By sound there was quite the fiasco this afternoon, but you couldn't see it really. Two of the female juvie kestrels had been on the nest earlier, but left. Sometime later it started. Mom who could not be seen only heard was being fussed at by an adult kestrel, but I'm uncertain if it was the Mom or Dad of the juvies. And of course Mom was having none of that and was raising Cain right back. At some points you could barely see a kestrel dip as it seemed to be divebombing her wherever she was. The AP cam is out, but I don't think she was on the nest tree, but on a tree nearby. This went on for a very long time, then Mom must have flown farther back from the tree, because it continued in the distance, but Mom was not as vocally reactive. The kestrel went on and on and on. Then it stopped. Wondering if the kestrels will take their juvies away from the eagle nest area now.

Pa in at with an unruly stick to place at 8:11 this evening. It almost placed him! He finally got it under control and placed it to the front rail, but had to trim it. He also did some aeration. Mom could be seen flying in the background at 8:22. Pa worked some more and seemed to be keeping an eye out for her. He flew at 8:26 to the right rear.

:eggthumb: No eagle visits today. I didn't see any kestrels on the nest. I did hear one of the adult kestrels fussing/alerting almost all day though. Most of the time it seemed to be in the distance. Saw it swoop well out to the left of the nest and rear a few times as it was giving somebody heck. I thought I heard a couple eagle vocals that may have been Pa, but not sure. The kestrel may also have been upset with the workers in the area today. I only heard a juvie a couple times in the distance, so our kestrel season for the nest may be winding down. The juvies are usually in the area only 2-4 days.

:eggthumb: Pa to the nest at 5:53 this morning to check things out. He flew 5 minutes later. Mom arrived to the right branch in a hurry at 7:25 this evening and was fussing as she was chased in by an adult kestrel. You could not see the kestrel, but it fussed at her for most of her stay and dive bombed her as you could see her react some each time it did. She also alerted. She spent most of her stay on the nest. She went up to the left branch and flew at 8:08. Did not see any juvie kestrels today, but could hear them from time time in the distance. An adult kestrel could also be heard fussing at times today.

3:05:38 Mr. Blue Jay came in and tapped mouthy Mr. Crow while on the right branch and that was that! Mr. Crow flew away with his tail between his legs...

Incredible behavior at 3:43:42! A crow arrived and it seems it's head and neck are itchy and it rubs those areas on the left branch. Soon another crow arrives and the crow with the itchy neck tips it's head down inviting the other one to check it out. And it does, kinda reminded me of monkeys when they look for lice or whatever on each other. Then the other one tipped it's head down and the 1st one started to reciprocate, but they had to fly. Hahaha! Don't know if that's what it was, but that was my take. I later looked it up and that is how they show affection for each other by grooming the head and neck feathers. They take individual feathers in those areas and twirl them around in their beaks. It also said it is something rarely seen, so I feel privileged.

:eggthumb: Mom made at least 1 visit early this morning to the nest and Pa was here a couple times. The adult kestrel can be heard almost constantly somewhere it seems today fussing at who knows?

There were no eagle visits today that I am aware of. I did hear some eagle chatter in the distance at a time when a adult kestrel was fussing. Heard the kestrel at intervals today, but I don't think as much as the last few days. Thought I heard a juvie/s kestrel in the distance today, but not as much as the adult.

:5val: None of our regular eagles today, but a SA did stop by this evening for nestorations and a rest in the bowl or what's left of it. It was a real treat to see!

:girlsad3: Unfortunately cams 1 and 2 went to a black screen sometime late this afternoon. Someone thought it could be due to a storm that went through the area. The app cam has been stuck for a long time now. As BCE was not notified till after 5 pm on a 3 day holiday weekend, we may not have cams back till Tuesday at the earliest.

Edit to add: The person who let BCE know of the black screens received a msg back saying someone will reset the cameras when they return to the office Tuesday morning if they have not reset themselves before then.

:eggthumb: Cams 1 and 2 reset in the middle of the night and are back up.

Edit to add at 12:10 am real time: No eagle visits today that I am aware of. Still hearing kestrels sometimes.
