Almost the usual nest exchanges today. Cam 2 went down around 5:30 pm and did not return until after dark. And for whatever reason Mom did not return until 8:31 pm which was also after dark and the latest I have seen her come in for the night this season. Pa was pleased she finally came in and flew out right after she arrived.

Pa showed up at 5:09 this morning (3/21) to start the nest exchanges for the day. Mom went up to the left branch where she remained for the duration. Then when she came down to the nest to take over, Pa went up to the left branch and remained for quite a while before flying out. Perhaps they sense the time is drawing near. Egg 1 started day 33 earlier this evening. Nest exchanges continued the remainder of the day. Unfortunately, the AC is down again.

Nest exchanges were the norm today except Pa did not return after 3:27 pm. It's been a rainy day. He did bring in a headless fish for Mom and made a fluff delivery. Pip watch begins later this weekend! :5val:

The big news today is someone reported a possible pip at 4:42 pm. For me personally it seemed a little early as the 1st egg would not reach day 35 till 7:11 pm. I went back on the DVR prior to 4:42 and noticed Mom had been doing some deeper aeration around the eggs as they had all that rain the day before. I noticed she had some transfer of the dark wet, fluff on her beak and wondered if that is what was also on the egg rather than a pip. Will have to monitor. But as of 12:18 am there have been no more sightings of a possible pip. Below is a capture that one of the chatters sent BCE and they posted it on FB saying it could be a possible pip. So far, I remain doubtful but will certainly monitor.

This was at 4:42 pm on 3/22/24.

I think B17 may have eaten for the first time on Monday evening as he/she was weak for several hours after hatch. It's been fun watching all of them today. B17 was fed by Mom and Pa and sometimes together or Pa would hand off bites to Mom to B17 per her insistence. Many of the probable bites are blocked by the parents as they feed. Sometimes when Mom is trying to feed Pa comes in and insists on brooding/incubation stopping the feed so he may do so. Pa showed up while still dark this morning and stayed about 3 minutes before flying out as Mom refused to get up. Soon the heavier rains began and it rained most of the day. Pa brought in a headless fish today. B17 is really chirpy. Have not seen anything with egg 2, but it only turned 35 days this evening. Mom has been up and down several times tonight and at one point I could hear B17 chirping away even though she had B17 covered. Maybe we will see a pip in egg 2 in the next day or so.

No pip nor duets today. B17 doing well. Nest exchanges, incubation/brooding, feeds, very minor nestorations continue.

Possible pip on wrong end of 2nd egg? Good looks at 6:45 pm and 6:47 pm.
