Ma is sleeping on the nest, so I went back to see when she came in on the DVR. At 1:30 am per the approach cam, a large bird flies in front of the nest tree. Then a minute later, Ma flies in and actually lands abruptly on the outer side of the rail and has to climb up and over to get in the nest. Pa flies in to a limb on the tree at 1:56 am, then to the nest a couple minutes later. He goes to a branch at 2:01 and at 2:12 tucks his head and you can no longer see him because his white head is tucked and his body blends in with his surroundings, but he is still there. From the nest cam, beginning at 1:29 you can hear Ma and Pa vocalizing to each other in the distance. Then at 1:31 am, Ma abruptly lands on the outer side of the rails and climbs up and over to get in the nest. She begins to vocalize and I believe it is Pa who returns each vocal to her. Then he lands in the nest at 1:58 and it proceeds as it did on the approach cam.

:7val: Checking on the DVR, the earliest I can go back is 6:45 and Ma is not on the nest, so I am unsure when she left. The approach cam is stuck at 4:00 am. Pa arrived at 8:08 with a coot and Ma arrived with soft calls within the minute. After they both stood staring, she reached in and eased the coot out from under Pa. He went over near the bowl and began spreading fluff and aerating and she joined him as the coot has not been de-feathered. Then they stand for awhile and Pa goes to the coot and stands and then it's back to work for him arranging the sticks on the rail. He flew at 9:04 and returned 3 minutes later with a stick to place. At 9:10, Pa has been busy moving sticks and trimming them and he goes over and drops 1 on the coot and he raises up and he snips at her and they have a quick spat. He continues with his work and she leaves for a branch at 9:15. Finally after a long rest for Pa he gets up and at 10:34, he does the chore Ma has wanted him to do all along and he begins the task of de-feathering the coot. You can hear Ma's occasional soft cries as he works. At 10:54, she hops back in the nest with cries and reclaims the coot! Pa resumes his work on the nest. He hops up to the branch on the left at 10:57 and back down to the nest a couple minutes later to reach in gingerly and pull up a a long strand to eat off the floor of the nest from the coot that Ma has ignored. After eating together, he hopped up to a branch at 11:04 and out of sight while Ma continued to eat. She remains at the back of the nest standing as I leave.

:1val: I was not early enough to go back on the DVR and see the early activities of the nest and when Ma left, but did find her arriving at 8:38 and begin nestorations immediately. Pa joined her a minute later bringing in a stick. It took him tries on 3 sides of the rails till he found the perfect spot to place. Then a quick spat between them and Pa resumes work on the nest. Ma flew out at 8:48 and Pa continued with nestorations. At 8:51, he found another morsel of the coot partially buried and he ate it. She's back in at 8:52 with a stick. After watchfulness from both of them, Pa flew at 8:56. He returned at 9:00 with a stick and flew 6 minutes later. And back again with a HUGE stick that he had to manhandle to place to the rails. But, Ma joins in and there are a few quick spats. He also got some of the small stray sticks out of the central nest floor, then back to his huge stick to work on. Ma flew at 9:21 and Pa almost 15 minutes later.

:1val: Didn't get here early enough to see when Ma left this morning. Pa came in at 8:10 for a 3 minute visit to move sticks, aerate, work on rails. He returned at 8:48 for a 12 minute visit with a fluff delivery to the bowl. Also, some aeration and rail work. Ma arrived to the nest at 12:22 for a 7 minute stop over visit. Then Pa in at 12:33 with another fluff delivery that he distributed about the bowl area. Next some rail work before eventually hopping up to a branch at 12:39. He returns at 12:47 with a large, cumbersome, stick that he places to the right rails and is currently trimming as I leave.
