:eggthumb: Well it's a scary sight when you go in and the nest is empty, but that is Legacy perched on the branch as seen on cams 1 and 2 for now. Looks as if she is staying for the night. Do not know where Samson and Gabby are.

EDIT to add: The Tuck:

gretchen_AEF#1945 Yesterday at 9:14 PM
SUNDAY TUCK-IN: Hmmm thought Legacy would be tucked IN the nest tonight not AT the nest. Our fierce eaglet (soon to be fledgling) remained perched on the Sunset Branch this evening thru a mighty electrical storm accompanied by rolling thunder and heavy rain. It has subsided for a bit but rain expected off and on through the night and likely tomorrow. Guess that doesn't bother our Legacy. Mom and dad were tucked at the LY side by side tonight. Sleep tight sweet Hamlets and all!

Legacy to the nest at 1:31 am and ate fish. She remained on the nest.

:1val: Do not know where Samson and Gabby are tonight. Legacy is on the nest. Mod report:

jd_AEF#3811 Today at 9:35 PM
10:33 pm Legacy hopped down from Sunset Branch to the nest. She seems to be looking for any nibbles left behind. She laid down in her comfy corner of the nest to try to get some sleep. The barred owls in the Hamlet were being vocal so perhaps that's what prompted her move to the nest.

Tuesday Tuck In: it was dark but at least one of our parent eagles was at the Ly tonight. Bet both are or will be roosting there tonight. SED y’all!

WEDNESDAY TUCK-IN: Our baby girl, Legacy, has been a spitfire all over the nest tree branches today......although she seems to favor the Sunset branch. It was great progress seeing her "fly" to Lookout Point. Once she takes flight OFF the nest tree, that's considered "fledging". Will the Wallenda branch be her next accomplishment? She will likely roost on the Sunset branch again tonight, while mom and dad are tucked in the LY (photos below). SED to our precious Hamlet family and SED to all!

:1val: Samson and Gabby are home tonight. The Tuck:

gretchen_AEF#1945 Today at 8:47 PM
THURSDAY TUCK-IN: How cute is it that Legacy is sleeping standing up (at this time) at the edge of the nest as close as she can get to dad perched above (Samson on Cam 2 & seen on Cam 3). Love seeing dad roosting with Legacy tonight. He delivered 4? fish today and Legacy is mastering "chow time" without any help. She is "spot on" with her landings on LOP even considering the windy day today. What will tomorrow bring? Niters everyone!

:loveheart2: Only seeing Legacy on the nest tonight. Nobody on tree. The Tuck:

gretchen_AEF#1945 Today at 9:41 PM
FRIDAY TUCK-IN: Our little nestling, Legacy, is flat as a pancake smack tab in the middle of the nest right near the pantry (that is fairly stocked). Several fish were delivered today shared by all including left-overs. Mom and dad aren't roosting at the nest tonight. Maybe that's why Legacy isn't sleeping near the branch they would roost at. Samson was on LOP about 7:45 and flew in the ET direction right across the street. Sure enough vocals were heard by Gabby, as she was already there. They were both perched when we left at 8pm. (photo below) SED to our Hamlets and SED to you too!

SATURDAY TUCK-IN: Well, it looks like Legacy is roosting on her favorite perch on the Sunset Branch. Your ground crew was unavailable tonight, but mom and dad are likely roosting close by and possibly the ET as they did last night. Tomorrow will be one week since Legacy took out to the branch. Will Sunday be her day to fledge.....only when she's ready. Fine by me! SED to our Hamlets and SED to you too!

SUNDAY TUCK-IN: Yes, Legacy certainly has a favorite perch, and she's tried 'em all. Tomorrow she will be 11 wks old and fully equiped to fledge. Mom and dad are both tucked in the LY. Gabby was perched when we arrived, and a bit later Samson flew in. They exchanged sweet vocals. They are getting back into their routine as a pair should, yet still care for their precious Legacy. All is fine in the pines! SED everyone!

:dancingegg: Forced fledge for Legacy this morning. Video below shows the view from each cam. Action starts shortly after 2:45. Another viewpoint begins at 3:30. Need to see more than 1 view to gain perspective. Legacy flew up and missed a branch and went down to a branch that could not support her weight well and the only way out is to fly! And fly she does!!

Video by Paul K.

At 8:47 pm, Legacy is the only one home tonight on her special day!!

:15heartbeat: Samson is at the LY and Gabby is on LOP with Legacy on the nest and it is a buggy night. The Tuck and update:

gretchen_AEF#1945 Today at 7:58 PM
TUESDAY TUCK-IN: Samson flew from the nest after listening to non-stop chittering from Legacy (haha) and was heading to the ET. Sure enough we heard vocals from Gabby as he approached. They are tucked there very close by and had their eagle eyes on Legacy. Without a doubt Legacy could see them too. So comforting knowing where our family is roosting at night. During the day Legacy is busy mastering about every single branch on the tree. She's a treat to view and what a beautiful eagle she is! SED to all!

jd_AEF#3811 Today at 9:19 PM
Post-tuck update: Legacy jumped back to the nest from LOP at 9:38 pm and Gabrielle arrived there at 10:08 pm to watch over her Miss Independent. Samson apparently remained at the ET.

:15heartbeat: Legacy is not home tonight. She flew earlier this morning. I have checked throughout the day, but she did not return. Samson and Gabby are at the ET tonight. The Tuck:

gretchen_AEF#1945 Today at 8:25 PM
WEDNESDAY TUCK-IN: Yes, Gabby flew to the ET where Samson was perched this evening (photo below). They were there for sometime and then flew to the LY. We are all anxiously waiting for Legacy to return to the nest. She took a deliberate flight as chat was pausing this morning (approx 10am). She was seen in flight and attempted a landing at the nest tree, but the strong wind forced her up up and away. She was later seen on Cam 3 flying by the nest a couple of times. Glenn, Tatine and I did some searching today but we didn't see her. It's very difficult to cover this heavily wooded area (actually impossible unless she's obvious). She likely flew a short distance but possibly out of the Hamlet. NOT TO WORRY.....WE AREN'T. She is experiencing some initial independence, just as she should. She has truly shown competence at this stage. We've had fledglings at this nest fly and not return for a couple of days. One flew and didn't return for a week. One flew and didn't return for several weeks. After her adventures today, she may have decided to perch and stay put for the night, as the wind may have been a factor today. She is a mighty, assertive, and strong eagle. We can be sure of that. It's likely she will return to the nest tomorrow. Hunger will motivate her home. TTE!! (Trust The Eagles) SED

:15heartbeat: Legacy still has not returned since yesterday morning. She may yet return though, not giving up hope. I do not agree however that because she does not have a sibling, she may have left early. Samson and Gabby are at the LY tonight. I'm afraid Gabby will leave early again this season if she does not return soon. But, if she is in the area still, Gabby would know. The Tuck:

THURSDAY TUCK-IN: Although Samson and Gabby were seen at the nest tonight and at tuck, we can't confim Legacy has returned. There was a suspicious fly-by this morning that was likely an eagle passing by the nest that was all dark (wing span width of the nest, flat wings and large - pic posted below). Not having a sibling to interact with and fly around with could prompt her to depart earlier. It's an unknown. However, we do expect she will return at some point as we anxiously wait. Just know all is well! Mom and dad are tucked in the LY again tonight. They exchanged sweet vocals and were side by side when we left a little after 8pm. SED

FRIDAY TUCK-IN: It was very quiet in the Hamlet tonight at tuck. Glenn and I walked the area a bit looking for our Legacy. We hope she's out there enjoying her independence. We also (selfishly) hope she makes another appearance. Well, we have no reason to think anything other than good thoughts for her. We tucked Samson and Gabby in the LY. They are certainly back to their routine and so glad they remain there, so we know where they are roosting at night. They were both spotted not far from the ocean in one of their favorite trees this afternoon. SED to all!

:15heartbeat: Legacy is on Lookout Point to sleep tonight at 12:03 am. Samson and Gabby are at the LY.

From cam op leighann:
What a wonderful evening in the Hamlet! Samson delivered Legacy a huge fish. The whole family was together and ate! Samson flew about 8:15 and is at the Evening Tree. Gabby is perched on cam 2 and Legacy on cam 1. Everyone will sleep well tonight. I hope everyone enjoyed this evening as much as I did. SED's to all of you.

:flirty: Legacy is roosting on the nest tree tonight and Samson and Gabby are at the LY per the ground crew. Here is a video by JD of Legacy getting knocked off LOP at sunrise this morning by a Red Shouldered Hawk:

Legacy was fine and returned shortly after being knocked off the branch.
