Mod is saying A3 is GF (aka girlfriend). Does that make A2 Missy? A2 came in yesterday and spent last night with Samson and it appears she has same plans for tonight. There is nothing wrong with her. She is big, beautiful and loud to me. I just hope Samson ends up with GF, because that is the one he seems most receptive/interested in to me. These other gals seem to follow him wherever he goes, but Samson seems to follow only GF!!

Chat is moving fast and it is difficult for me to keep up with @ times. Twice they have been asked if A2 took NE20 and twice answer has been A3. Also, saw where mod said A2 is not the one who was so loud. I thought she was loud yesterday and today, but recently I have turned the volume up after the real Missy left or whoever she is/was. Lesson learned: you must leave the volume the same level @ all times to judge who is who, no matter how piercing that sound is. :teehee:

Here is what one of the mods is saying about the eagle who is currently with Samson in the tree right now: Jan 15, 5:31 PM
sharipf_AEF (Moderator): We believe this is A2 - A2 is the female that showed up while Romeo was still around - the 2nd of the females to show up - she was the sweet one who tried to incubate but didn't really seem to know what to do. She is not the loud mouth eagle. A2 did not take the baby.

I think she has a gray spot still on both the right and left sides of her beak and the most distal portion of the tip.

I just finished chat, even though it actually ended 1 hour ago. That is how far behind I was. More than once a mod would answer a question and then come back in later with a correction on the name of eagle they had given as it is sometimes even difficult for them to keep straight. I believe I read that they do not know who the eagle (the one they focused the cam on earlier today) with the hurt foot is. I believe I will try reading their event log, now that I have figured out how to get rid of the green thing that rises and blocks your view as you read. I will be glad when the documentary comes out on this nest for this season. As far as I know, they are capturing it all, even as it started with Romeo and Juliet in the fall of 2018.

Swinwk, A2 is the young, very large female that showed up at the nest on 12/18. You can go back and see pics of her on this site. Here is the video of when she 1st arrived on 12/18 and Romeo could not budge her out of the nest. She was submissive toward him and seemed to mean no harm. She tried to incubate the eggs and slept in the nest tree until other females showed up. She is not the one that killed the eaglet. She is beautiful with dark feathers (eye shadow) behind her eyes. She is very sweet.

The loud eagle was the 1st eagle that Samson came into the nest with. She was being called F1 by AEF. She was replaced by F2, which AEF now refers to as GF for girlfriend. GF is also very sweet and Samson took a real liking to her.

It will be interesting to see who keeps this territory. Samson seems very attractive to the ladies. He takes after his Dad. :15heartbeat:

Yes Nadia, I thought I clarified some of those things I had misunderstood above. I am aware that A2 met Samson for the 1st time only 2 days ago. Deep down, still hoping GF will be the one. But, am preparing myself for otherwise. So far, I have only observed that Samson seems to follow GF and not A2 or some of the other gals. A2 and the others seem to follow him. I do think A2 is beautiful! One of the mods last pm on chat said A3 took the chick. I also noted above that even some of them were saying the wrong eagle and then coming back in later to clarify.
They are even considering not naming any more of the eagles that come in for now, d/t all of the confusion.

.

So, that's where our northern Robins hang out in the winter? Thanks Ferenz.

Yes, the mods do appear confused Swinwk. If you go back in this site, the eagle with the spot on her beak was what AEF was referring to as F1, not A2. F1 was the 1st female that Samson came in with. She ended up with talon injuries and was very vocal/loud. As for A3, I have no idea who that is. AEF has been using multiple names for the same bird, which is adding to the confusion. In the end, I just hope for stability and peace here. I too would like Samson to end up with GF. He seems to really be fond of her and she has also grown to like him. :15heartbeat:

Yes Nadia, I am aware of who has the one spot. As far as I can remember, I have not mentioned an eagle with one spot. I did mention however, A2 has a gray spot on both the right and left sides of her beak and the most distal portion of the tip as above. It can be seen in pics, videos, cam and is one of the ways I now identify her. I assume this will disappear as she ages just a bit more ... as it may be just the remnants of her black beak from youth. If not and it is unique to her, then I will always identify her in this manner. In this case of the NEFL eagle nest, I have chosen to go back and read the AEF event log from it's intro till now, as they mentioned they have clarified as necessary. I have already read here. Please forgive me if I have made any mistakes in any of my commentary. I was without a computer for 6 months and it was devastating for me as far as the birds go. I am trying to catch up @ all the sites I follow. This site in particular has proven to be the most difficult with all the changing events, birds, names, nicknames, etc.

:girlyes: Swinwk, no need to apologize. It is hard to keep the birds straight, especially when AEF is mixing them up. This year, I cut down on the number of nests I follow, so I have spent more time watching this nest, which is a favorite of mine. I am at the office right now without cam access and cannot open the flicker link you posted (blocked). So, once I get home tonight, I'll look at the pic on my own computer and see if that is in fact, A2 or F1.

Shep, I looked back at your prior posts and it appears that you were referring to A2 at Missy.

5.45 pm 2 eagles arrive, 1 has several new wounds on its head
That's Samson with head wounds
AEF calls this A2 - so, Missy

Thanks Nadia

I didn't notice any wounds on A2's nor Samson's heads, but thought Samson's head markings looked sharper than normal, maybe from the angle of the setting sun. But, you were here when they came in and I was not. We'll have to keep an eye on it.
