they are both at nest. mal eon branch and Female in nest, after close of males face, those are war wounds

male flies off and flies to nest. then back to branch

hear eagle calls but do not see their beaks moving. must be them ( maybe from the throat)

they are very watchful
will try and post shots later

male (injuries around cere) under the beak and then mouth area on right side. talons look fine

Thank you all for all the great (and humorous, Shep!!!) updates, pics and video links.

I'd love to see eaglets this season - if things can settle down and be peaceful...

Wonderful pics Bev. Looks like both the males and females are duking it out for this turf. This pair is holding their own so far...each with their own battle scars. :nervous:

Cam audio has been ahead of video since the season started. Perhaps it's deliberate...to hear the audio and then see the event. Just a guess. With all the turmoil going on, I have actually found this set-up helpful as an alert that something is about to happen.

This is an incredible video of events this morning between 9 to 10 am. An adult eagle was trying to flush the new young couple, called M & F by AEF, off the nest. Pretty fierce eagle. I don't think it is Romeo. The attacking eagle has some brown in its tail that Romeo did not have.

Here is a nest fly-in by Romeo back in Oct 2018. His tail is pure white underneath.

:hmmmm Shouldn't the copyright date be 2018 and now, 2019? That is the year all these cam shots and videos are being published or made public.

I think you are correct Nadia. When I researched I found AEF had updated to reflect 2018, but not 2019 yet. I will make a note to correct that each year.
Thanks for pointing this out!

:newyear11: Thanks Gigi. Hard to believe that next year will be 2020. I recall a time when those digits seemed very far away.

both flew. do not know if this is valid but last few days , they flew off when there were voices and cracking of twigs not far away.

I still hear th e crackling of sticks. Do not know how close the public can come. I often hear dogs also.

As I understand it, the nest is on private property. It is monitored from a ground crew so hopefully, the voices you hear are from people who are authorized to be there.

As I understand it, the nest is on private property. It is monitored from a ground crew so hopefully, the voices you hear are from people who are authorized to be there.

During nesting season, a zone surrounding the nest tree is roped off by AEF from the public. One of the cams, possibly the one on the ground, is highly sensitive to sound and picks up noises from the surrounding community. The homes are further away than they appear on cam. Deer frequent the tree base, along with other animals which may account for the sound of twigs snapping. Like Gigi mentioned, there is also the ground crew. Whenever I have seen the cams hone in on the ground crew below, those people are usually watching the nest from a small parking area. The new female has been skittish of the urban noises and was spooked by something a few nights ago. There is a pesky Barred owl that nests nearby, who frequently tried to knock Romeo, Juliet, and the kids off their night perches last season. Great Horned owls nest in the Hamlet too, but they are away from the nest tree and have yet to be a problem.
