will post shots later if I can
there appears to still be others or other in area. Female was very upset and then male came into nest and both were calling. They were alert and calling for quite a while. she then flew to outer branch and eventually they both left
I think we just to be be patient and see what plays out.
I remember our biologist telling me, that a nest take over is never easy , and usually the one who has remained usually shows the other the ropes, so to speak, BUT when a nest is replaced by 2 newbies , especially first timers( as these two appear to be), it is a whole new ball game. They have a lot of learning to do, and it is trial and error. instinct usually kicks in but it takes longer for them to figure it out.
so if one of our pair had remained, it would have shown the other the way, as Romeo was trying to show that younger one that came in. ( because she was young and was expecting to be wooed, it would take longer).
We have 2 newbies here, that is why you are not seeing nest building as of yet. They are still trying to secure this site. That is their main concentration right now. and the nest is built . It does need some repairs but for most part it is ready. They may be mating off nest as well, as ma and pa berry do.
so as much as i would like to see romeo and Juliet again, they are no match for this younger pair. in my heart, I feel they have moved on and will lick their wounds and regroup somewhere else next season
( without bands, we will not know if they go to another area)
