On the PTZ cam 1 on YT, Samson comes in with a whole, beautiful, Cinnamon Teal duck at 9:16. He spent about 10 minutes de-feathering, then gave NE22 just a few bites. NE22 had been kept at bay with a couple bonks by NE22 while Samson was busy. NE22 wanted more and tried to self feed, but I guess Samson was tuckered out after all that prep work and he flew to a branch. I do like NE22's "mohawk-do" she is sporting right now!

:15heartbeat: All are home tonight! The Tuck, Fish, Feed reports:

Mar 12, 8:36 PM
gretchen_AEF (Admin): THURSDAY TUCK-IN: LisaS_AEF has the tuck reported above. The family is firmly tucked in the nest or on the branch tonight. NE23 scored the final feeding tonight as NE22 was already in a food coma. NE23 soon joined in. All is fine in the pine! Tomorrow the chosen names in the Naming Contest will be revealed to AEF members. We are all anxious to hear the winning names. SED Y'all

:1val: Here are the final name selections for NE22 and NE23 that only AEF members can vote for:

Mar 13, 9:02 AM
jd_AEF (Moderator): Here are the selections - Jules - Romy, Aurora-Asher, Legacy-Legend, Leia - Luke, Destiny - Legacy

I will be surprised if it is not Jules and Romy for the obvious reason. Also, there is a video (that kept pausing and starting for me) of Gabby aerating a little after 4 am this morning and waking up NE23 who felt it necessary to bonk her 13-14 times to show displeasure of his rude awakening and her continued efforts at aeration around him. She even got one of his talons (the one time he didn't bonk) accidentally. Other than to stop on occasion and look at him like ... "oh no you didn't" ... Gabby continued her work till GABBY was done! :teehee:

:1val: Looked for Samson on the tree, but couldn't find him. So nerve wracking when the kids sleep near the edge of the nest. The Tuck, Fish, Feed Reports:

Mar 13, 7:52 PM
gretchen_AEF (Admin): FRIDAY TUCK-IN: We saw Samson fly in and perch low this evening at the nest tree. He later took off. We didn't see him at the ET or LY at dusk. That rascal could fly in at any moment here, there, or anywhere. If he returns to the nest tree tonight, our jd_AEF will likely find him. He's no doubt close by.
SED y'all and remain safe and protected.

:girlsad3: N23, the younger and much smaller eaglet is going to bed hungry tonight. I only saw this eaglet get one good feed late this morning and nothing since. The older eaglet, N22 is very aggressive. I do not recall seeing bonking at this age in eaglets, but N22 bonks the younger one into submission at every feed and this older eaglet can really put away the food. The younger one has been whining all day and actually tried self feeding while Samson watched from a branch. I think this older eaglet takes after Gabby, who continues to mantle prey brought into the nest by Samson. Very different dynamics from what we saw with Romeo and Juliet and their offspring.

:1val: Samson and Gabby are both home tonight. The Tuck, Fish, Feed Reports:

Mar 14, 9:01 PM
gretchen_AEF (Admin): SATURDAY TUCK-IN: Quite the day for deliveries. . .a needlenose gar (fish), blue talapia (first for this particular species of talapia) and either a muskrat or nutria (this was definately a first at the nest). Both kids had huge meals followed by HUGE crops. Samson is on Cam 1 (at this time) on the Wallenda branch, and Gabrielle is hard to see perched to the left on Cam 3. It's a peaceful night at the nest. Stay safe, everyone in these days of uncertainty. No need to live in fear, just be vigilant.

babyhawk_AEF (Moderator): Fish/Prey Deliveries today: 8:25 am (fish), 11:32 am (fish), 12:51 pm (needlenose gar), 1:52 pm (blue tilapia), 4:34 pm (catfish) & 6:48 pm (possible young muskrat or nutria)

Mar 14, 10:17 PM
babyhawk_AEF (Moderator): 9 Feedings/Partial Feedings today: 8:25 am (NE22), 11:39 am (NE23), 12:08 pm (NE23, a few pieces to NE22), 12:59 pm (NE23 lots then NE22 some pieces), 4:33 pm (NE22), 6:48 pm (NE22), 6:59 pm (NE22 a few pieces), & 7:35 pm (a few pieces). NE23 nibbled on fish @5:04 pm & 7:10 pm - got a few pieces.

Samson brought in a thin gar fish this morning. Again, N23 was bonked by N22, and N22 was fed the entire fish. N23 only got a few bites. I am inclined to disagree with the moderator's assessments of yesterday. When I went through the DVR, I only saw N23 get one feed. Mom and Dad need to increase the food supply, so the oldest one gets full and drops out of the food line, so the younger one can feed. We will see how the rest of the day goes.

N23 finally got a feed. Looked like a very stiff old squirrel. At least this eaglet has a crop now, but is still looking for more. A nice fresh fish with some moisture would be nice.

Rat brought in by Samson. N23 was bonked again and N22 got all the feed. N22 attacked this younger eaglet even after the feed was ended. Very aggressive. As soon as N22 lifted up his head, N23 went after him.

I know this is instinct, but it is hard for me to watch. Hope NE23 gets enough.

:hapdance: OK...we're good. No worries Gigi. Gabby fed the rest of the rat, which is actually a Nutria to N23. This youngster now has a good crop while big sister sleeps off her earlier meal. Pin feathers really visible on the older eaglet.

146pm - N23 with nice crop.

:1val: Samson is across the street, Gabby on the tree and NE22 and NE23 are sleeping on the nest tail to tail right now! Oh, oh! Ne22 is awake now as a critter I don't recall hearing just sounded off and woke her up! The Tuck, Fish, Feed reports:

Mar 15, 8:34 PM
gretchen_AEF (Admin): SUNDAY TUCK-IN: Another day with interesting dining deliveries. . .another needle nose gar (fish) and a Nutria (rodent) were delivered by Super Sam! Both kids were recipients of huge meals equating to HUGE crops. They are sprawled out fast asleep in the nest. Mom is perched to the left of the nest under the globe on Cam 3 (and on Cam 2). We tucked Samson across the steet at the ET before 8pm. All is well. Pls stay safe and trade any fears to faith! SED

sharipf_AEF (Moderator): Here are the age milestones this week - their 4th week of life -

Standing increases.

Attempts to pick at food (not self feeding).

Beak, leg, and footpad growth slows.

May notice pin feathers emerging.

Wing growth is increased by the end of week four.

Sibling Rivalry is decreasing, if more than one eaglet.

Mar 16, 7:57 PM
gretchen_AEF (Admin): MONDAY TUCK-IN: Lots of deer grazing on the lawn near the nest tonight, but no sign of Samson.
He flew right before we arrived. We waited and he was a no show, but he knows Gabby has everything under control. He wasn't at the ET or the LY when we left around 7:45pm. He's no doubt close by tho. In these uncertain times, what a joy it is to have this beautiful family to view. Stay home....watch eagle cams! SED
