OWL GUARD
November 16, 2023
The male stayed in nest all night last nite and nite before.
No owls. GOOD.

Female must be close to giving us an egg, saw them mating this morning

M15’s eye looked better later. He had it. His nicitating membrane covered it. They said that last year it happened occasionally. The experts think he has either allergies or sometimes gets some debris in it from eating or aerating. I guess he sometimes rinses it out in pond. One of our falcons had this happen in some of our severe wind storms. And it has been windy and rainy .
They are keeping an eye out.
F23 has been spending some lying in nest. Good sign.

Around 2 am (very roughly ) I heard vocal and both eagles entered nest - briefly. After nosing around both left. I think I heard offcam mating - but - at night???

It is currently 4.30 am and she's whining off cam.

Thanks bev! :leafok:

Both Kevlar were there before midnight but did not stay too long.
Female, I think, was in nest for a bit.
She better be careful as F23 worked hard on nest bole today
Wish F 23 would stay in nest at night but she is getting closer. Maybe being hit 3 times, makes her a bit uneasy. But ,soon.

Male GHO Brings Prey Twice To Nest
Nov 18, 2023 Both Great Horned Owls were in the nest tree at night with the male bringing prey (bunny) to the nest. The first visit was at 21:32- he calls for his mate and waits for her to come to the nest so he can transfer it. The female flies in to the inner limb and she watches him but she does not claim the prey, The male flies off with it and she follows.

I can’t post pictures and videos from iPad but will try to get to camputer later today.
They are both fine.
Eggs soon I hope.

Nov 22, 2023
Yesterday she was whining, VERY nervous, restless, laid down in nest, up on branch, back in nest, whining. Male brot her a HUGE fish.

Hootie Owl entered nest somewhere after and midnight Nov 21.
It hooted, buried its head into lovely nest and left.

2 pm Female's been laying in nest often today.
Male keeps coming in, checking for an egg.

The cam op is taking hyper close ups of her breast.

M15 is a real trooper. It rained during night and he stayed through it. There were times he was on alert but a quiet night
