SWFL Eagles ~ CROW UPDATE On E14's Exam - Broken Pin Feather NOT Fish Hook! 1.15.20

CROW - Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife finished a brief exam on E14 and report there was no fishing line or fish hook on E14 or in the nest. The cause of the blood loss was a broken blood pin feather as I had suspected and reported on yesterday. Also egg#2 was fertilized and was partially developed.

Thank you CROW for your excellent work and for your rapid response to the information regarding E14's cause of death.

:7val: At 6:59 This morning Harriet bowed from the attic and kept that position to signal she wanted to mate and M15 flew from the outer attic to oblige!! Can be seen from cam 1 and the pond cam.

:sorrow: Oh my....so sorry to see this. Poor baby. I have been looking in on the cams every now and then. All was going so well here. Losing any one of these birds is always heartbreaking. Part of me is relieved though that it was not due to any manmade causes. RIP little one. Condolences to all.

This lovely video was filmed by DeborahItaliano

Deborah's description: "As E-14 was being lowered from her nest to be driven away, the sun's rays started to appear on the left side, near the ground. At 2:21 of video, sun's rays appeared on right side. Both sides merged and then increased in size and brilliance. Then, it waned, to the right, until no more...
Speed of video increased 2X."

SWFL Eagles ~ "Hello and Goodbye" ~ E-14's aura appears, Very Ethereal and Beautiful ~ 1/15/2020
Thank you Deborah. :15heartbeat:
Note: Comments state this is an optical illusion and nothing more. Even so, it is still beautiful.

One reason I don't watch a lot of bird cams is attachment. But this is my second year to watch Harriett and M15 raise a family, or try. I was aware that E14 had some sort of injury the day before he/she passed, but I was not prepared for the bad news the next morning.

:15heartbeat: When Harriet and M15 flew this morning, it was toward the west pasture and I do not believe they have been back to the nest tree since.
