:loveheart2: ALL of eagle nation are absolutely smitten with E17 and E18. They are the "talk of the town" at many chat sites. I think partly d/t the recent loss of eaglets at some nests, the want and wait of eaglets at their own respective nests and the never ending antics of these two. One has already tried to go up the bowl at less than 2 days old for crying out loud!

:15heartbeat: Check out 17:19 and 17:54.

Jan 28, 4:38 PM
Essec09 (Admin): Evening all. Our SWFEC group have noticed what is a concern with both E17 and E18 (eyes, face area). The camera owners have been notified of the concern. We will update everyone when we have more information. Thank you all for your observations and concern.

:15heartbeat: At times earlier this evening, I have seen both eyes crusted and sealed on E18, then left one opened some. Only 1 eye affected on E17. Don't know if from saliva transfer (remember top of head of one very wet this morning I believe it was), feed drippings, bonking, infection, etc. Have seen eyes sealed as this before in eaglets this age and it self-corrected. Hoping that will be the case here.

Edit to add:

To see eyes of both chicks quickly, check out this video by Lady Hawk from about the 5:32 minute till the 6:50 minute mark:

:1val: Awaiting eye update from site. If I have the chicks correct, both eyes open on 18, although the right has some debris causing it to appear not to open completely. The right eye appears sealed still on 17. The color of the debris on the beaks, faces, top of heads appears whitish similar to the color of poo. I did see 2 PS's yesterday, 1 cleared the bowl and 1 didn't. Cam ops were trying to get close-ups for follow ups this morning. I think it was 17 maybe trying to get up the side of the bowl awhile ago, but got brooded instead. Mod reports:

On the nest:Harriet
9:02a M up, to the attic. E17 crop drop. H to the treetop, M flies up, mating vocals/bonding. 9:06a M flies off. 9:08a H to the nest, checks Es, offers food. 9:13a E17 has a full crop. E18 gets a good feeding. 9:17a feeding over, H broods.

On the nest:M15
10:38a H up, off bowl. E's watch, H aerates, to food, each E gets bites. Both lay down. H to bowl, aerates, broods. 11:05a M in with fish head. H to the attic, flies off. M offers food, not much interest, brooding.
