As a reminder, Belinda (King) somehow laid 7 eggs last year and 5 (or 6?) the year before, so we probably have some time to go still. Also, Alison has identified a new female at Black Dog this year, an unnamed female from Minnesota.

Thanks for that info, Obxbarb, so Mandy Rose isn't there? I thought XCEL had confirmed she was still there? Oh dear. I sure wish the cam was clearer. Both Blackdog birds are banded...if we could only make out the male's bands..

Very odd this year. There may have been another female at some point, since at least seven eggs were laid. 4 young hatched, two died, and three addled eggs were present in box. When we went to band, however, Mom was Belinda.

Dalies are now working...They Zoomed in this afternoon...maybe to figure out if this egg is damaged or "stained"....

Well, I don't know what this was all about and I'm not even gonna try to guess...all I know was that it took a while for Dad (?) to return and now no body is there..

At least I think this was Dad that returned (I don't know these two well enough)...

Interesting band

and after all of that, I still can't tell you how many eggs (yes, I see 2)..

3 eggs at King the earliest I saw on the dailies was around 9 am so it could have been yesterday when the cams were down :eggface:

Did anyone figure out the band mystery? I guess you know this, but neither Belinda or Brent have an "x" band. Hmmm.

No I did not...Some Canadian bandings in the past seemed to have some coloured tape put over the bands...but I just don't know! The Hacking boxes in South Dakota put tape on bands to ID the individuals during Hacking...Maybe it is an adult from that program?

Not me!!! Its that left band that looks so strange. they wouldn't be putting tape over the left band. This is the same frustration we had at OshKosh..you think you're close enough to see the bands and you kinda can, just not clear enough to get a decent ID.

Well as far as King I haven't got a clue Blackdog is a new female nora, msfalcon & alison is 99% sure and related to Zeus :sum9:

Her mother is Octane, banded black/red 11/K, born in 2008 at the American Republic nest, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa. Octane's father, banded black/green 63/B, was born in 2004 at the Woodmen Tower nest in Omaha, which means that his parents would be Zeus (banded black/red X/R, and now sadly gone from the nest, and Amelia (banded black/red *E/*V, whom we lost in the late summer of 2006).

Now, regarding King...as usual, I cannot tell how many eggs...could be 4...but, that's not the issue...they have been unattended now for over 2 hrs (if you can believe the archives~which is tough, since the time stamp is cut off..ya just have to go by pics)...which, is no biggie, I guess, except they've normally been there..

OK...as I'm typing this, the female has returned..and is upset about something...not on the eggs yet..
