Wow - Great close-ups of the first egg! And what a change from past years when we had falcons here but no eggs or chicks.

Oh good grief, I've been looking at the cam for at least 30 minutes trying to see if there was an egg under there. I even have pictures. :teehee:

I am so thrilled to see an egg here, long time coming.

I am overjoyed with this news! So happy for them! Thanks for all the great pics everybody!      :flirty: :flirty: :flirty:

Nice little tidbit about the cousins, Matrix. So who are the siblings that make Moxie & Spark cousins? I am pretty familiar with Spark's ancestry, but not so much Moxie's. Was Maverick her father? I think you said before, but these nests kinda run together after a while, especially this time of year.

Catwoman, your first picture is so endearing! The way Jamie is looking at his very first egg :girlluv:

Ok let me try this...it can make one's head spin... going thru the USFW band numbers...LOL!!! But is is like a puzzle and I like to solve them!!

Spark can be traced back to Bandit and Aurora....rather lot of twists and turns but it can be done in about a half hour...
Moxie can be more easily (IMO) traced back to Bandit and Katie because Moxie is double bred Maverick, and Maverick is full brother to Alpha... and Alpha is Scout's father...both Alpha and Maverick's father was Bandit...
Deep breath if your still with me at this point...LOL
Both Scout and Orville can be traced back to Bandit...but as I said with Spark..a few twists and turns...
Moxie is closely double bred...where scout and Orville were distant related....

Thanks for the explanation, Matrix! It just occurred to me that it would be nice to have a section on family trees in BCAW. SGB? :sum5: Of course, we would have to have some diagrams first, which would be a lot of work, so maybe that's something to think about in the off-season.

Catwoman...would you like to develop that section? :teehee: :teehee: :teehee:

We've talked about this before...need some really good software to draw out the genealogy...I wonder what juanita uses..

I use a (Dutch) genealogy program, "Aldfaer", for my family trees. I think it can be used for falcons just as easily.
Moxie is also related to Roosevelt, that makes it extra special that she ended up here I think.
