usually somebody does monitor..I've written to them before...maybe I'll send an email again...I doubt that they are paying much to the nest right now...there hasn't been a blog entry yet for this year...

I think I just assumed I was watching Zeus on 2/11...the bonding in the box was so typical of their vocals and movement!!!..that still could have been him with a very dirty silver band..

I'll keep the cam up and recorder on...hope I can remember to restart it when the cam times out..

sometimes bads ar ento what they appear to be. Dirt, lighting.

I am jsut saying this because 2 years ago, I had a report and picture sent to me that showed Radissons band different , even lettering.

Yet I knew it was her. Turned out that poop shot had covered part of band, and one of letters looked like an O stc.

So I am hoping in my heart that this is what is happening here. (not necessarily poop on band :girlcrazy:

Current "box" sitter..

Lousy picture, but it looks like b/r on the left band...and a 1 digit letter or number on top...this certainly increases the chances of this being Zeus..In other pics of Zeus, his right band appears silver. In this pic, the right band still appears dark...Hopefully, we can get a pic in better lighting..its just too dark for my editing software..

that's great news, bev...None of the dozens of pics I have from this morning are showing a silver band on the right leg!!!

I did not get picture snapped in time but I saw it . I know a pciture is worth a thousand words words, but when he had this leg lifted up he moved a bit and I saw silver band on other leg. Of course I am trying to figure out O.K. which is left and which is right :girlcrazy:

will keep trying.

I am babysitting next 2 days but will do what I can

Sorry I've missed the last few days. I think everyone is caught up, but just to clarify Hera has a federal silver band only, on her right leg. Zeus has a federal band on his right leg and red/black on his left leg. He was born in 1994 and is 19 years old. There is a timeline and background on the Woodmen falcons on this thread.

I will keep an eye on them to see if I can catch some shots. The federal bands sometimes look like colors when the light reflects differently. I hope Zeus is alright. Alison knows these birds better than anyone so she may be able to do a visual ID of him.

Bev...I've had this cam up almost all afternoon...and Hera has been on the box edge the marjority of that time...her right silver band is easy to make out..the 2 banded falcon took the morning shift...but, I finally gave up trying to get band numbers...so, I have sent an email...we'll see..

Thanks bev...if it was from this afternoon, it was probably Hera...unless you see bands on both legs and then you hit the jackpot...I didn't get any good pics all day long that would tell me anything...

Well, unfortunately, I was on the phone and had the sound off so I don't know how vocal they were...grrrrrrrrrrrrrr...Hera is still perched on the side of the box..some fairly goofy sections on my part as I'm trying to find a better view and talk on the phone at the same time...

Still no luck reading the bands...but, there is a possibility that when I really enlarge this, the top letter could be an X, which would be good news...Zeus is b/r X/R

Hera seems comfortable with him...and he behaves very bold at the nestbox....so I agree it's Most likely it's him...
Perhaps his USFW band is oxidizing after all these years...
Would be nice for he and Hera to have another 5 little zeus's this year!

The band on female at Genesse Alberta is very worn and hard to read so you never know with bands

I say, i fyou do not know , do not reply. they used to do that at cam in Edmonton and then I would have to phone and let them know what was what.
