maybe the transmitter has come off...Or if that is Quest in the box...I can't figure out why Kendal is suddenly darker and bigger in the several pics posted above...
:think

Quest has a ring of white feathers around the back of her head so I would say that's her outside the box and Donna posted pics of Quest and Kendal bonding in the box yesterday which showed that her antenna is still there. We wish it would fall off her seeing as it's been there since 2008! Sometimes it's just hard to see the darn thing.

Thank You Kris! :snowflake6i: Never knew of Quest's white "crown"...that is a great way to id her when her back is to the cam...
Wow, that transmitter maker needs to be looked at for other birds since it lasts.....or if it's a fluke, does it still work?

Gord had to remove Miss Edmontons transmitter and they had to remove Transmitter guy at Genesse but then Transmitter guys mate lost hers and we had a few males loose theirs. so it just depends.

Hope things are good here

I think we also know that cams distort things sometimes, depending on angle

You're right, bev. That's why it is great to have faithful watchers who know all the nuances of each bird.

You're welcome! Her solar-powered transmitter was working in November-the last tracking data was reported then. When she's more active around the site and people there see her, they don't keep track of the transmitter or post data on Rfalconcam. It was always felt that the transmitter would fall off in about 2-3 yrs but maybe it hasn't because of the Mexican Red nail polish! Story here:

Definitely Quest! Saw her antenna when she took off just now plus she has white feathers on top of her head-Kendal's head is very dark, all black.

From CPF, posted today:

March 09, 2013 - Toronto - Don Mills

    Bruce Massey Reports:

When I arrived Quest was on the south side of the Harlequin building and Kendal was on the top of 240 Duncan Mill Road sunning themselves. All of a sudden Kendal began to alarm call and a large bird flew through to the north that looked like a heron. Neither bird moved as the bird flew to the north and disappeared. A minute later both adults began to alarm call and a brave little American kestrel took a run at Quest!! Kendal took off towards his mate as this was all happening and then Quest was also in the air. Both adults took off after the kestrel and there was an aerial exchange of swoops and words with the wee interloper. The kestrel took off to the west and both adults returned to their roosts. A few minutes later, Kendal flew over and was about to breed with Quest but veered off at the last minute. Spring is in the air for sure and nesting is very much on their mind. Kendal returned to his perch and remained for only a few minutes before the pair took off in a courtship flight together. Excellent to see the pair renewing their bonds!!
