I'm so sorry to hear about Blue. Unfortunately, we all seem to have buildings like that. The statistics are still better on buildings than bridges and cliffs, but no easier to bear. Good that black will be released in a safe natural place. Green will get her parents full attention now.

just a bit of a break. Sorry I have not been posting but when you read Weber you will know why.

We have slowed down our watch here. this was out last early morning but we may do some. We are now just doing 4 till dark.
Green girl is strong like Radisson. She flies all over. Yesterday morning she woke up R nd chase and chase , chased her back to box, as if to say, we are still sleeping. He then went back ot tuck in spot R was still there as well. Green made her way back there but sat above them quietly :girlyes: She returns sto box every night but now as she gets more worldly , htat may stop.

This morning she chased after prey but will never catch Chase. Man, he just flies like a bullet. Scares me sometimes, but it is out of my hands.

We have lots of picutres and Peter took some video of Green chasing parents and I will download a few picutres a day.
Radisson and Chase have been renewing bonds which is good

Edit to add:

Gord released Black band on Pembina and he is doing great. he will release more Tuesday and then a couple of females on Friday.
Peter and I may go there Wed to watch them fly.

HAPPY TO HEAR THE BLACK IS DOING OK. I sure miss seeing green flying around. Life throws us curve balls and we still have to keep going. Go Miss Green and fly well.

WEber august 4

Well I told you some idiot went on roof of Weber on Friday to change a light bulb. Peter checked and did not see any young ones so we had hoped they were not scared off roof.

But yesterday about 4 Pm, I had a call from someone staying at Hotel just down from Weber. They were on second floor and they said a young peregrine was just outside their window. Not good news. They had seen our poster at restaurant an d phoned us. posters do work. :sum9:

So we scooted down there. The people let me go to their room and there was a young female. Just huge and not ready to fly. She had been there since Friday. ( roof incident). She was on a big ledge just outside their window. Lots of room for her to roam.
They said she could not get up on higher ledge ( thank God)and just flapped and wandered and cried. Lucky for us, these people were from Windsor Ontario, and knew peregrines, so did not bother it. They said they had seen an adult fly by.

We took a good look around and then went outside and knew we had to call Gord. She was too close to ground and if she did get up on ledge , she would go off into traffic. Gord told us to rescue if we could and so Peter got hotel manager to let Peter out on ledge and it was a fairly easy rescue.

We then looked around area again and saw second female, but she was quite a bit higher up and safe. Miss Edmonton was with her. Wenotified the Paramedics , who are just in between Weber and hotel and showed them where she was . We also told them what to do if she came down , til we got there. We also let Bin 104 know.

WE headed home with our girl , as Gord asked us to wet her down and feed her some chicken breast and he would meet us this morning to get her and my poor Blue girl.

This morning I went to UNI myself and Peter came down a bit later with birds to meet Gord. He always gives us so much information. You can just hear the passion , still in his voice. He will hack her on Friday with another from the Miscrecordia, if the one from Mis is O.K. He has to phone on her.

So on our way to our family( who were all cooking breakfast for us this morning :loveshow: :loveshow: ) we went past Weber and the other female was above Ramada sign lying down and Miss Edmonton was not far away. So far so good. The adult male was up by nest box.

On way to my girls I got a call from desk at Ramada worried because young female was calling and so was Miss Edmonton. So I explained all was well and Miss Edmonton was probably looking for chick we rescued) and they said they would watch out for her.

After breakfast we went past again and she must be able to fly now as she was on west side of Weber ( opposite side from where Ramada is, Ramada is east of Weber)) 3 ledges from top. Yeah :hapdance: :hapdance: :hapdance:

So we are tired but will sleep tonight as we go back to university in a few hours

I think I forgot to mention. Miss Edmonton had 5 chicks. One died in last real bad rain storm we had. Gord said she wandered from box on roof. he banded 2 males and 2 females. He left 2 females there as the area could not handle 4 young ones. This was a request from me as I know area . It can handle 3 as we have had 3 before but no more

I am happy when they are able to go out into nature instead of city .

the 2 males were hacked with black band

As usual, you are having an eventful season! How nice that Gord is hacking into a natural area. You must feel such relief for that. Congrats on all the positive results of your hard work.

we have still been monitoring every day but we have had to catch up with life.

WEber aug12

our young gal at Weber is doing great. She is a strong flier and loves chasing the adults. She knocked dad off his perch and chased him . Wonderful to see. i feel bad we had to rescue other female last Sat jut becsue some yahoo decided to go up on roof, becasue I am sure she would be flying just as well with her sister. but Gord planned on hacking her out on Pembina. By the time she would have been checked out and put back, this was better solution. She was there on lower roof of hotel for over a day before we got her. She was beautiful and huge, but not ready to fly.

But we have one lovely and I am thankful for that. Miss Edmonton sure hit the paydirt this year. And her new partner , who was fledged not far from Edmonton, is a great mate.

post picutres as soon a PB is ready. I sure miss the slideshow feature

I have pictures loaded but cant seem to post.

I am looking for a new program for next year. Do not like Pb anymore. Any ideas

U of A

Green girl just gets stronger and stronger. Carol and bob were there on Friday evening and she treated us to a show with Radisson. Radisson had to tell her off.

She does stoop but no luck as far as I know. She has only been flying for 2 weeks and I always find the females are slower to catch the food in flight with adults and hunt , but they try. That is just my experience with them. they like to stay around home.

Too bad cam was not still up because they all are around home quite a bit.Green loves to roost on cam

Last night she was true to form and when Chase brought food over to Clinical science last night she appeared from over across campus and landed on netting and cried for hers. Chase flew off but she did not chase him . He then landed on cam with food and then flew off and went into box. Green finally followed him in there an d he tried to beak feed a bit an d just made it out LOL

WE left her in box an d Chase and Radisson were north on Med Science building.

We had a horrific storm last nihgt so hope all is well

We had been planning to out to watch hacked falcons this morning but maybe tomorrow morning

so all is well so far with our two girls at both sites.

will try again later to post picutres :furious: :furious: :furious:
