It won't be long now before she's gone from the nest.

Thanks, Beth. You're very welcome!

I keep thinking our Nebraska chick is going to fledge when I see her at the nest box opening, but then she decides to flap her wings inside the box, look cute waiting for a food delivery, and then dad comes through with lunch. Is she so spoiled that she'll never leave?

I'm happy for her, but sad for us. Our last beautiful kestrel chick fledged late this afternoon, sometime between 4:09 and 6:35. I hope she enjoys her life outside the nest box.

Well the last I got was 4:25pm and she was still there had to leave of course. I think I'll go see if Jeanne got anything. She got a pic at 4:49 so it was right after I turned it off :furious:

Thanks, Beth, for the lovely pictures of the Pawnee kestrel. I'm surprised to see a kestrel visiting the nest box at this time of year.

Beth and KF - Nice catches of the Pawnee kestrel!

FYI - I just checked the nest, but it was dark. In the process of doing that, I found that the link to the cam had changed. It's now http://birdcam.xcelenergy.com/Cams/Kestrel, and I've updated the Kestrel Cam Links page to include the updated link.

:thankyou Thanks, KF, for finding the new Starr Ranch kestrel cam and adding it to the Cam Links page.

P.S. I just did a search on the Starr Ranch and learned that it's an Audubon Sanctuary in Southern California. I also learned that there's another link (http://starrranch.org/blog/) to get to all the Starr Ranch cams, including a barn owl cam.
