I doubt Ocean's Reach will do anything...they didn't rescue the nestling last season. As far as I've seen this cam is a marketing tool for the Ocean's Reach resort...nothing more.

Just be glad there aren't nestlings. If the intruder/ territory issues continue eggs may be very late. Ocean's Reach has not posted any ground observation information, so no idea if Ospreys or Eagles causing a problem...

I'm following and documenting with nest caps and videos, for my non migratory Osprey information, but will post some this week.

For now the mess in this nest today.

I posted a comment on the cam page....and I guess others did too...so, wonders never cease...we'll see!! This morning, an adult already had a piece draped around its neck...it was very loose, so hopefully it dropped off...I lost the cam before I could take the pic.

From the webcam page:

"C.R.O.W has been called about the string in the nest, thank you all for pointing this out! Should be fixed this afternoon! 01/21/2013" . . . OR

There was an intruder male on the nest this morning, chased off by the female.

Now looks like both residents are on the nest :ohyes:

I'm really glad they went up and got rid of the twine. Now I wonder what these strange round balls are??

Patti, I don't know what the round thing is, but it looks harmless. The long twisted thing is a Whelk (conch) egg case, harmless.

The nest still has intruder issues, not unusual for the area. Both working on the nest, mating and guarding. Hoping for an egg soon "hohum:

I thought I posted this video of the string and trash removal (1/21/13), but I see not...so while we wait/hope for an egg, this is won't kill nestlings...good job CROW

The female was still on the nest at dark 7:08 pm. The only reason she should be on the nest after dark would be, at this stage, an egg on the way. She looked fine, not trapped or injured...so maybe an egg tomorrow... But, they've fooled me before :girlcrazy:
