Here is our intruder yesterday, we've called him Jimmy!
He was indeed a 2012 bird - great news that these two year old ospreys are popping up.
He's probably been back in the UK since May or June time, looking for a mate and a nest site for next year.

Osprey Blue CU2 visited the Dyfi nest 20th August, 2014.
He is a two year old, ringed as a chick near Carsphairn in Dunfries & Galloway on 8th July 2012.

Great to see our old friend Dai Dot again yesterday. He visited several times throughout the day.
Here are two of them..

After being quickly displaced by Monty on April 8th, 2014, Dai Dot made a quick visit to the Dyfi nest on August 21st.
Good to see you again Dai.

Deri
A certain lady is 10 weeks old tonight :-)

What a difference 70 days make!

Gwynant has just arrived back after being away since yesterday afternoon.
He's 75 days old today - he'll probably migrate at 80-something days.

Glesni Departs
Posted 25-08-2014 glesni-departs in This Week by Emyr - MWT

We last saw Glesni on Tuesday, August 19th at 07:54. Just as the 07:55 to Birmingham International was passing, she lifted off the larch perch, gained height and was gone.

Glesni's work at the Dyfi was complete. After all, she had her own international destination to get to.........

Dyfi Osprey Project vor 3 Stunden · Bore da

Deri lands at the Dyfi Fish Bar for another all-inclusive breakfast, but her brother seems to get more independent every day.

Gwynant is 83 days old today, Deri is 80 days old

Bore da - We think Gwynant has started his migration.

He was last seen on the larch tree with his father late on Saturday night. His sister, Deri, has become very territorial over the last few days, not even letting Gwynant land on the nest.

Gwynant reminds us so much of his half brother Einion in 2011 - very independent, easy going and determined. He even left on the same day as Einion, August 31st.

Gwynant probably left early yesterday morning - he may well be crossing the English Channel to France right now.

We wish him all the best, starting the greatest journey of his life. You've made a lot pf people very happy - good luck, see you in a couple of years mate.

Here's a rare photo for the album - Just before he left, Gwynant with a fish and Deri without!

Deri is very much still with us. She can be heard from Aberystwyth and occasionally form Dublin when the wind is right.

Here's a thought: Glesni will most likely be in Senegal/Gambia now. Gwynant will be half way down Spain - passing Madrid maybe.
And Deri is still on the larch perch in mid Wales with Monty hanging on for her, still catching fish for her.
With the prospects of her being here another week, maybe more, we are starting to worry about the weight tolerance of the larch perch. It was never designed to take these kinds of pressures
