:egg17: I DID GET TO SEE DURAND EARLIER TODAY! :egg19: AND WE DID FIND OUT BLAZE IS DOING OKAY. :egg16: WONDERING IF SHE'S ALREADY BEEN RELEASED OR IF SHE REMAINS @ REHAB? :egg17: HOPING ALL OF THE OTHER FALCONS ARE DOING WELL.

Call me sentimental...but, I can never enter the month of July without thinking of our beloved Scout and Orville.. Parents to Cleveland's Boomer, Oak Creek's Eclipse, Bowling Green's Aerial, and hopefully a lot more nests that we don't know about. It is only fitting that their grandson, Spark, occupies this very special territory. Sadly, though their time together was brief, they managed to touch many of our lives.

This is Durand and Spark's home now. Both have shown they are worthy of taking over this great nest.....but, Scout and Orville will always hold a very special place in my heart!!

Catbird has done a wonderful job with this nest's recent history..for our new members, take a few moments...

Thank you SGB; what a beautiful tribute to our beloved Scout and Orville; as far as I am concerned there will never be a more beautiful pair of falcons as these two beautiful birds. I do love Durand and Spark - Spark is Scout and Orville's grandson and now we have their great grand offspring - Boomer, son, Spark, grandson and not Hoshi, Blaze and Dart; the legacy lives on!!!

Thank you SgB for posting your pictures and video. I have watched this cam since 2007. Scout and Orville are who sucked me into this wonderful world of falcons. I love all the ones we watch now, but back then, I was much more emotionally invested or something. (Unlimited internet access helped) The deaths of those two great birds took the wind out of my sails for a while. But in the last few years it has been great that we have a nesting pair closer to me in Canton. I went to a fledge watch last year and got to go to the banding this year. So great to see the little ones up close and meet Chad & Chris! I almost didn't watch the video on Orville, but glad I did, although I am still bawling. I used to watch this cam with my beautiful sun conure on my shoulder and she would chat with the falcons. All are flying free over the rainbow bridge now. Thanks again!

:grwelcom Amy!!! Its really great to have you here..(don't forget to check out our Canton thread if you haven't already)...

I think many of us have similar stories when it comes to Scout and Orville..I was new to the "cam" world at that time and really hooked into the Harrisburg pair...but, for whatever reason, became emotionally attached to Scout and Orville!! maybe because Orville was just so darn cute and full of personality. Maybe it was watching Scout go from awkward resident female to new mother to amazing Mom..or maybe it was just how affectionate they were with each other...in their own falcon sort of way...who knows. I remember thinking (after we all recovered from the shock of Orville's death) that at least we still had Scout. Little would we know, at the time, that it would only be for just 1 more year.

One of these days I'll complete my tribute to Scout...all my material is just sitting in a folder, waiting for me to muster the energy to put it together..

Well, that is really a bummer....guess they did find something wrong..better to be where she is than continually crashing. She might not be as lucky next time..

thanks for the heads up...

So sorry to hear about Blaze, but I'm glad she's in a safe place.

If I remember correctly, Dart & Blaze both had the tinted feathers/down at birth/after. I have to wonder if we have not seen Dart because maybe he also suffers from the same issue, if in fact it is developmental.

I just hope he is spotted soon.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I used to post years ago and my profile pic was that beautiful one of Scout that Skygirlblue has on her tribute, taken by Donna's husband at the banding that year. I'll have to find one to use and figure out how to get it on here! :)
I love the Canton cam. That is how I got involved and have gone up to see them downtown.
I am glad that they found out that Blaze had a problem and I know she will be well taken care of there.

JUST WANTED TO SAY I THOUGHT KAREN NORRIS GAVE US A WELL-WRITTEN REPORT ON BLAZE'S CONDITION THAT WAS VERY, INFORMATIVE. ADDING THE DIAGRAM MADE IT A 10/10! :egg19:

Glad to have word on Blaze. I was hoping like everyone else that they wouldn't find any problems & she could be released right away, but at least now she can be helped to overcome her problems. If she hadn't been rescued, she could have perished.

Beautiful tribute to Scout & Orville, SGB! I am very glad that since we can't have them, we have their grandson on their ledge. He's showing that he has become a great mate & father! :flirty:

Welcome to BCAW, Amy! So glad to have you with us!
