They told me the other day that they'd been speaking to someone from ODNR about the nest, so I'd say they've either been speaking to Donna or someone in her office.

The nest was online for about 2 hours this afternoon. Nothing much happened during that time. Mom left the nest twice and returned with a stick each time. There were no feedings and no visits from Dad.

In this picture the two chicks are taking advantage of Mom's shade to cool their heads.

A guy at the station told me that Dad likes to perch in a tree in front of their building (which would be on the opposite side from where the nest is located). When he came back from lunch today he saw Dad sitting in the tree. So that's a relief!

The station employee also told me that they are wary of showing the nest online right now because the deceased chick is still visible. I was wrong about thinking it had been removed, it has just been moved over to the side of the nest. Part of it can be seen in the lower right corner of the screen. It blends in so well I didn't notice it.

The nest wasn't online at all on July 4th. When I checked at 2:00 this afternoon (July 5th) it was on. Yay! It has been on most of the evening. Unfortunately, the deceased chick has not been removed yet. It is in the same spot at the far right side of the nest. They have been keeping the camera aimed to the left so that very little of it can be seen.

It was another very warm day here - 85 degrees. Every time I checked on the nest it was the same scene -- Mom and chicks sitting around panting. I didn't catch any feedings or visits from Dad.

Around 7:30, I went to peek at the nest and found both chicks peeking back at me. Too cute!

Then a few minutes later Mom showed up with a fish! She must have caught it herself because her legs and belly were wet.

It was a small fish, so the feed went quickly. Mom left again and a few minutes later another small fish arrived. Something was different, though. Instead of feeding the excited chicks, the parent just stood there looking around and around.

Then suddenly, DAD(!) took off. He left the fish behind, though. :ohyes:

Seconds later Mom flew in, her head soaking wet. She fed fish #2 to the chicks...

... and then Mom left again. The chicks settled down for a nap:

It was a very short nap, though, as Mom soon arrived with fish #3!

After 3 fish in 30 minutes, the kids looked pretty happy. They were just settling down again when... in comes Dad, with fish #4!

They should sleep well with nice, full crops tonight!

The nest wasn't online at all on Thursday, and Friday it was only online for about an hour. These were taken between 4 and 5 pm.

Someone flew really close by the nest. By the way Mom was acting, I don't think it was Dad!

As of Thursday the chicks were still doing well. The nest wasn't online at all on Friday, mostly due to rain and various news events.

The camera was rather poopified this week. Hopefully Friday's rain cleaned the lens off.

The nest is finally back online, for the moment, anyway. Yesterday I was told that they couldn't show the nest because of "all of the live events happening around the country". What live events? Checking other local and national news sources showed that it was a pretty slow news day.

Anyway, today the kids are hanging out and enjoying the breeze.
