5/14... Landings Bird Cam - Savannah I'm so sorry to have to share this info today: >Over the last two days, the Osprey pair on camera have been harassed and attacked by at least one aggressive Osprey. Following these recent attacks, the nestling has appeared listless and hasn't responded to the parents' attempts to feed it. At this point, it is unlikely that the chick will survive. News from Cornell Lab of Ornithology: "Unfortunately, despite our hopes that the nestling's condition would improve, it appears to have succumbed to its injuries and died. Since there are eggs still in the nest, the adults will likely continue to incubate the eggs and defend the nest for some time ranging from weeks to even months. They may also continue to try to care for the deceased nestling. Thanks for watching and learning with us." And I'd like to add this sentiment from one of our facebook followers: >>"Thanks for the joy and smiles you brought us during the short time you were here." |

5/15... Landings Bird Cam - Savannah >A new day dawns over the nest tree. Here's a lovely quote from a dear friend: "Nature is the truest reality show, bringing both joy and tears - we must accept them both." At 8:10 this morning the female removed the body of the chick from the nest. |

Nov 2017 I noticed 3 eggs were laid last spring, 1 chick died apparantly neither RRP nor bcaw followed afterward. Does anyone know if this nest fledged a chick? |

I believe the 2017 parents were young and defending the nest left the little one alone. Little ones can only be left a short timeframe. Lets hope for a happy 2018 nesting season... |

No, it was left out in the elements. Just to small for a parent to leave without protection of a warm body and food. |
