15th August, 2017

We last saw Aeron 24hrs ago at around 8am Sunday morning.

Clarach and Cerist hold the record for earliest migration from the Dyfi, both 81 days old. Aeron was 84 days old yesterday - has he gone? We'll keep an eye out for him today, look everywhere we can, and let you know tonight.

One of the final photos of Aeron

WHOWZZERR...

We're pretty sure Eitha has caught her own fish this morning.
She returned with this flounder at 10:05 and was soaking wet.

Glaslyn, Wales: 17 August 2017

Mrs G started her migration on August 18th in 2007, the earliest date ever
for her to leave Glaslyn for her wintering quarters. Her visits to the Glaslyn nest
are now becoming less frequent and she will spend a lot of time away from the nest site.

August 20 - Fantastic News.

We have received the news today that Blue 9C, the eldest chick from the 2014 Glaslyn brood,
was photographed at Leighton Moss on 25th July by John Dodds.

2014 was the year that BGGW first took over the running of Glaslyn
and Blue 9C was also from the last brood fathered by 11(98),
so the sighting of him is especially poignant to us all.

Blue 9C hatched on 13th May at 05:40. He was ringed, along with his two siblings,
on 19th June when he was 37 days old. He was judged to be a male weighing in at 1440g.

He fledged at 51 days old on 3rd July at 18:26. He was a confident youngster
and we managed to get a sighting of him at Pont Croesor, when we discovered him perched
in a tree close to the river. We last sighted him on 25th August 2014.

Rutland, Manton Bay UK - And he’s off! - By Holly Hucknall on August 21, 2017

It has finally happened – 2AM has started his journey south! We are not certain when he left exactly,
but he was last seen on the nest at 6.38 yesterday morning. Paul Stammers then saw him in a poplar tree
behind the nest on yesterdays Birdfair Dawn Cruise sometime after 7am, and he is last recorded
in our hide logbook at 7.15am by volunteer Chris, who wrote – '2AM leaves the bay… migrating?'.

2AM picked a brilliant day to set off as the weather was perfect yesterday, so hopefully
his journey should be off to a strong start. Here are his final moments on the nest.

Here he is landing on the nest a few minutes earlier, the sun rising in the background

and black headed gulls flying all around him – what a scene!

Aberfoyle, Scotland: We had some pretty wet weather overnight with loads of thunder around 5 this morning - looks like the osprey nest has suffered a bit! At least it wasn't earlier in the season when Clarach still had eggs or young chicks.

As they've both fledged and been spending time on and off the nest both LH0 and LH1 will be fine - we just might not see them as much between now and when they depart for warmer (and hopefully drier!) weather!

The nest will be checked out over the winter and sections reinforced if needed ready for next year.

Aberfoyle, Scotland Migration news by Dyfi Osprey Project Oct. 2017 :pumpbounce:

Clarach's two boys are making great progress. LH1 is almost in Senegal while his brother,
LH0, is still in southern Spain. Will he stay in Europe?

Some British ospreys never make it over to Africa and migrate to Portugal/Spain instead.
