Second egg for Boise. I haven't seen it, but the cam site is reporting that the female laid her second egg early yesterday evening.

Third egg spotted last night around 8:00. I haven't seen it as the kestrels have been doing a great job of keeping the eggs covered.

It seems that there will be no kestrels here for 2015. Wood ducks are nesting in the box, and five days ago 3 Wood Duck eggs were hidden in the nest shavings.

I can never catch them off the eggs..so, I decided to stake it out this morning to catch a switch..well, took my eye off of it for 1 second to take a pic of Wilmington...and missed the switch...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..

Hawk Mountain

At last, I finally found a kestrel at home in the new nest box!

Great to find the Hawk Mt. nest finally has a Kestrel. I was about to give up, but it has been so cold here it must be cold way up there yet. I can't wait to get back up there this year.

I can't find Neb. cam anywhere All I get is that little picture of something in a big empty box. I just read on FB that there was a hatch.

KF - Great news last night about the first hatch at Nebraska. When I checked in earlier today, there were 4 cute chicks: 2 were white and fluffy and getting fed by mom, and 2 were still pink and drying out from recently hatching.

Live Kestrel nesting cam Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

April 28 she sits most of the day, Have not seen male sit however he brings food. She leaves the nest and eats on a nearby telephone pole.

On April 15 she laid a fifth egg.

Around April 8, 2015, the female Kestrel laid four eggs.

The box installed in 1998, sits 30 feet up facing east and hosted about 9 seasons. A camera installed in 2008 showed nature affecting the success and a few failures.
The falcons frequently eat their prey on a telephone pole 20 feet away. They seem to hunt a half mile away at a 500 acre area with grass, sage brush and scrub oak. The camera captured the pair feeding the young lizards, snakes, mice, voles and occasionally small birds.

Star Ranch - 4 hatches now! (It's really tough to see the chicks due to the way the light falls in the nest box, but there are four little squirmy chicks there.)
