You can't see much here, but what I'm thinking is a new egg is that shiny spot under Dorothy.

11:51pm - she's back over the scrape. At first I saw her laying down, now she's up. I think she has her head tucked back.

I realize none of us want to see Dorothy have an issue with eggs this year, and hope she will be done soon, but E2 is on the eggs right now & Dorothy is wailing for him. I'm sure I'm going to hear a canoodle pretty soon!

Well she was egg bound last year but seems to be functioning fine this year...and I am not writing off those eggs as duds...Erin raised one female last year and she was 16 years old then so not sure why they think the eggs have to be duds.

I don't know either? I'm happy to see her have eggs and love watching these 2 bond. I just would not want to see her egg bound again. So, if she can pump out 5, all the more to her! I guess because she was pretty much "written off" after last year, that bothered me. Honestly, instead of celebrating her, it was more like looking forward to her death/demise/displacement.

And in all honesty, when I look at Dorothy, I totally see Beauty :loveheart:

I'm not giving up on her either & have also thought that she seemed to do fine with egg laying this year. Who knows, maybe last year she had an internal injury after some sort of battle, but she's fine this year. Since the "rule" is incubation after the next-to-last egg, I guess we can expect to see one more egg. Glad to see she is able to do what she & E2 want to do, at least so far.

Not to worry, folks - Pittsburgh has not "written off" our beloved Dorothy. Naturally, we were concerned about her recent behavior & appearance, & I guess some folks were preparing themselves for the worst. However, she has rebounded, & we are excited about this turn of events. Now if only we can find where Dori & Louie are nesting... & maybe the Pirates will have a winning season....

Here's today's blog about our local PEFAs from Kate St John:

Thanks for the link, Antilogical! I'm very happy for Dorothy & E2. I hope for their sakes that they will have at least one chick hatch, but at least they're happy that they're doing what comes naturally at this point in time. I like to think this has put a little "spring" in Dorothy's step!

I wonder how long that exposed egg can tolerate being uncovered...
