After being there this afternoon and seeing the action first hand,it was great to read the reports posted here in such accuracy! Greg, that is quite a story about the parrot! Anything in the air ... look out! Hungary mouths to feed. They are all out of the nest box now and that has a kind of sadness to it! God Bless them all for a Safe and Productive Life.

I just read Matrix's avatar " Your not just watching a bird, you are watching Life!" OH! MY! I LOVE THAT. I must remember to quote that when people ridicule the "bird watching" that I am SO addicted to.

Wow, what a day in Wilmington. Your report was interesting, Greg. Sad that somebody's pet escaped, and it ended up being a wasted meal, too.

Exactly,and red is a female so she is heavy. Learning to fly is just like learning to walk.

I was just going to say, on our fledge watch we hold our breaths with the females. The first few days they seem to have more problems, in general becasue of weight.
Falcons swoop down and then up and that is the problem with first flights if they go too low

Thanks to Greg and Faith for the on-site reports yesterday!

Just read on the Facebook page that Blue Girl wound up on the ground and is being released on the roof of the nest building. Don't know any details.

Thanks for the nice comments Ethel. That roof is one big safe place for them to be. So thankful to have it right there. It is named the Brandywine Building! Their nest is on the side at the top, under the roof a few feet.

I got a report from Phyllis that Blue took a short flight and is now on the Nemours Bldg with Red! So far they're having problems getting any higher than that building. The boys, on the other hand, have had nothing but high flights all day!

SGB - Thanks for posting the good news about Blue and Red.

Bev - The Nemours Building where Blue and Red are hanging out is 14 stories high. (The nest box where the falcons fledged from is on a ledge on the 19th floor of the Brandywine Building, which is next to the Nemours Building.)

well that is not too bad then. Our females do not get much higher when they fledge the first few days.

I just read that Blue Girl in Harrisburg just fledged and had to be rescued from the area she got into. All girls there, so heavier. A difficult time. So happy for help on the Ground. She went to the roof too! LOL!
