It looks like Red Girl and Trinity are both OK. The intruder seems to be gone.

Red Girl sat on the ledge on the nest box for a while while Trinity was inside. It didn't look like her tag- it looked white. Apparently the red tape has come off or is coming off of the silver tag below. Blow-ups of my pics confirm that. She jumped right on the eggs, which an intruder wouldn't do.

Looks like our lady took care of business!

Thanks so much for your reports, Dave. I've been watching the cam, but it shows only a small part of the big picture. If I wasn't two hours away I believe I would have made a spin down there, not that I could have done anything. Let's hope the intruder got the message to move on and STAY moved on. Red Girl looks pretty content on the eggs right now.

Dave, consistently great observations.

On Kim's Facebook page your report of the fight round 2:00 pm includes the following:

Trinity came back to nest, then falcon flew from battle area carrying a large bird. Carried it up 11th st and somewhere east. Then flew back empty-footed in front of BB and below the nest box.

Was the large bird being carried by the falcon large enough to be another falcon? It doesn't sound like there was time for any of the birds to hunt anything else.

Am wondering if anyone can take a look around 11th Street and beyond tomorrow. Is that the street behind the Brandywine Building? I'm not very familiar with the street names down there, but DO know where the Brandywine Building is.

She was definitely carrying a large non-struggling bird. I can't swear to a falcon but it happened just after the fight. I can't see anyone hunting during or after a fight. I would love to be able to look in the food cache on 1105, because she was headed that way. I was blocked from seeing it by my position on the roof so I can't say for sure she ended up there.

Trinity made a couple trips out of the box in the hour after the fight. He circled quite high for a few minutes, then returned to the nest box. Eventually Red Girl came back and landed on Brandywine Bldg. She preened for about fifteen minutes, then flew to the ledge of the nest box. She talked to Trinity from the ledge for at least five minutes.

Red Girl's mom was a fierce and tenacious fighter. She must have a lot of her mom in her.

Thanks again for your reports, Dave. Yes, Red Girl's mom would not put up with ANYTHING in her air space. She was responsible for the demise of at least three Red-tails. And will never forget her bombing a young Bald Eagle that was actually behind the nest building in Harrisburg. That eagle was nailed in the back MANY times before heading off to the East. Her dad is no slouch, either. I've seen him take on an eagle once. Male Peregrines look pretty puny next to an eagle. :-)

I am almost positve she would not be carrying a dead falcon. they just do not do that. In all my years of watching and witnessing many fights, they may kill another but they will leave it. in Ontario a few years back, when banders went up to band that is when they saw a dead adult female . another one was in area. dead one was just left there

but I am glad they ae both O.k.

falcons are still migrating back to Canada, so there again, hopefully passing through.

I just truly wish a no vacancy sign could be erected and all other falcons would stay clear

This femail is a falcon - right? Not a GHO?
Just kidding. Holy moly ... what a tiger! :egg14:
Hard to believe what I just read! Will post on RRP too

April 7 I saw this fb post from Dave!
"Intruder just after 2:00. All three chased for a long time (off the nest for 15 or 20 minutes, I think) Two clenched together in midair. Trinity came back to nest, then falcon flew from battle area carrying a large bird. A few minutes later Trinity flew out of the box and circled high high for several minutes.
Trinity is ok. One other falcon is around but we don't know who."

END - Intruder is 4 windows down from the nest box!

Cheers for our Mom n Dad

Tuned into the cam a bit ago to find Red Girl sitting calmly on the eggs. :-)

Been MIA the last couple of days. Right now can't help out and feel bad about it. Glad things are alright there now. Hoping the intruder got the message. Yes Jane, saw the same thing.

Thanks, David, for your excellent reporting yesterday. I'm just glad that all seems to have turned out well for Red Girl (except perhaps that her red band might be destroyed) and Trinity. I'm also glad that I wasn't around yesterday to see all the intruder posts and to panic at the thought of Red Girl and an intruder falcon really going at it in the sky over Wilmington.

I'm really hoping that this is the last intruder that the Wilmington falcons have to deal with this year.

Trinity's on egg duty right now. I hope Red Girl is out and about, enjoying an intruder-free sky and recuperating from yesterday's events.

Really glad to read that things are calmed down now. A BIG THANK YOU to all the hours and watch you have put in David. When I get down there I hope to meet you. Maybe I have already.

I've been home about half an hour. When I tuned in to the cam, Red Girl was on the eggs. She must have taken a five or ten minute break, but is back now. Thanks to all for today's pictures, and again to Dave for his diligence in reporting yesterday's events.

All seems quiet here at the Wilmington nest. So far, no reports of any intruders today.
