After reading Kris' post in the Rochester topic about Beauty & DC not pushing Cadence to fly possibly because they know she's not ready yet, I started thinking about Dorothy apparently trying to hold Bubba back. She didn't want to let him feed himself & (as far as I could tell) didn't encourage him to fledge. Remember when she was watching him flap & even turned her head upside down at one point when she was watching him? I bet she knew that he wasn't ready yet & was hoping he wouldn't fledge yet! :egg14:

That is what I thought right along catwoman! Dorothy instinctively knew her baby wasn't ready. There is something to be said about a mother's intuition.

Sky and Cat - I remember that discussion (I even printed it! - talk about memory???? But, of course I can't find it.. prob with my 'diseases info!)
So.... Dorothy's behavior sure makes sense now. :loveheart2:

yep, my memory is shot...especially now that we're at the end of the season and I'm personally pooped...Normally what I and others saw on 6/18 would have sent up a red flag and we would have been on top of it..similar to the high alert status we were all in with this chick at the beginning, the chicks at Du Bois, and Flash's feathers at Columbus...We were really on top of those issues!!

Of course, having said that and with our history/reputation on the FalconNuts FB page, our "alert" posts probably would have been deleted...LOL

Its a moot point now, but I'm still puzzled as to how they missed this after its first rescue. Did they not check Silver out before putting him/her back in the box? Either they didn't do a "extend the wing" check or Silver is slowly losing feathers in that area.

I recently read about a fledgling eagle that is currently in rehab. It keeps losing feathers and they haven't been able to figure out why.

well, sometimes they do not check if they think it has not hit anything. We do checks and our gal checks their wings

but you know, in the big scheme of things, she is fine, and is where she needs to be

And Dorothy did a great job. and of Course E2
i was surprised their watch was only a few hours, but I guess they are tuckered out. I am already and i have not started.

I just hope we get updates. honest updates

So I am thankful she was found. :egg17: I do remember her wings being discussed here , but we knew nothing would be done till she came to ground, so....

I am hoping it is a full molt situation. if it is, she can work with a facloner to learn to hunt and will be fine. :egg17:

He is so stinkin' cute!

Kate's blog post: http://www.wqed.org/birdblog/2015/06/25 ... disclosed/

I would also like to add a plug for donations - if not to the ARL Wildlife Center, then to your favorite local organization. We have been inundated this year - way more babies (especially birds) than at this time last year, and I imagine that this is the case for most rehab centers. The ARL depends on donations, and every little bit counts. Please consider a donation to your favorite wildlife rehab center - or MINE!!!

So glad he's at a good place to be cared for. Thanks for the links Matrix & Antilogical!

I see that somebody is talking about neurological issues again so I didn't post anything on the Facebook page because I was afraid I wouldn't be nice. I thought the neurological thing was put to bed a while back. I so wanted to say "He had parasites, not neurological issues", but I decided to keep my mouth shut! :egg13: Flash in Columbus also has feather problems but nobody is saying she has neurological problems because her parents are young. Well, I'll shut up about that now. :gaaaaah:

I wonder how many hundreds of people can adopt this little guy, cause there sure are a lot of posts about him on the rehab page, and a number of his followers aren't even on Facebook!
