Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...Durand must still be there..I hear them talking back and forth..Spark is currently on the box cam..

The cam seems to be 'sticking' - are you having this problem?

I loke your Remember 911 sticker - they will be putting out the flags on the statehouse lawn this afternoon for tomorrow's rememberance of those people who lost their lives on that fateful day - they will read the names of the people who died - it is very moving!!

As much as I have watched the cam, I still can't tell the difference between Spark and Durand like I could tell Scout from Orville - I know you have told us this before, SGB, could you share your description of the two so that I can tell the differences? Thank you so much - it might help the newcomers as well

I'll do my best!! Other than size (Spark is smaller) look for the right band. Durand's is silver, Spark's is dark purple. Durand has more white above her beak. Spark Squeaks~his vocals are higher pitched. If a bird is sitting near the ledge cam (and you're not sure who it is) watch its behavior if it goes to the box. 99% of the time, Durand jumps to the lower ledge, then goes to the box. Rarely does she travel the length of the upper ledge on her way to the box. (If I ever see her travel the upper ledge to the box, I always pay close attention once she enters the box. Even if she lands mid ledge, she will often hop to the lower ledge before going to the box..She so rarely uses the upper ledge, that it always sends up a red flag for me if she does..) Spark, on the other hand, usually hop/flaps or flies from the ledge cam end to the box end~always along the upper ledge. I rarely know who I am looking at if they are sitting on the box end..unless he/she vocalizes..if I hear high pitch? its Spark..lower pitched echups, its Durand (sometimes she sounds like a honking goose)..

If you can see the left bands, then Durand is 32/X and Spark is b/r 32/B. (I always found it interesting that they both have "32" in the band #'s!!

I know there are other differences, but will have to put my thinking cap on..

Thanks all for the wonderful coverage!! I've been out in vacation all week and haven't had the opportunity to check in recently!! It seems like our little family is a bit more active at the beatbox!

thank you SGB, this is very helpful - I see that Mike has posted a picture of either Spark or Durand on the LeVeque - great picture - no bands showing so it's hard to tell who it is especially not being able to compare sizes

Late afternoon...Durand is in the box, doing a lot of housekeeping..

...when Spark lands in front of the box, but goes to lower ledge and hangs out on the side of the box. Durand tries to get him into the box, but it doesn't work and he moves to that thing on the lower ledge..

He finally makes his way to the upper ledge. Meanwhile, Durand is still trying to get him into the box..

She finally gives up and goes back to housekeeping. Spark finally decides to join her in the box, but as he is making his way to the box, she leaves and goes to the side of the box.. :teehee:

She decides to give him a taste of his own medicine and goes and sits on that "thing" [no pic]..then makes her way to the end of the ledge..and smirks at the cam

Spark tries to get her in the box, but no luck...he stares at his feet for a while. does some scraping, and stares at his fans..

He eventually moved to the top of the box cam. They exchanged a few words...Durand eventually left and Spark followed soon after..
