Now to try and figure out the second band,,

The chick that's the "piggy" (and I think it's a female), bit off more than it could chew. Nemaha, being the great Mom that she is, quickly jumped into the scrape to successfully intervene.

I'm positive that we have one female and one male chick. And that female is dominant right now. Plus, I think the male will venture out onto the platform before next week is over with. IMHO.

He's having to lay low due to it being so windy out today.

Someone sure is enjoying his newfound "birds eye" view...lol.

Yes, the female is still inside the nest. Now, it's not totally confirmed that we actually have 1 male and 1 female. When the Chicks were banded, Westar thought both of them were males, but banded them as females to be on the safe side. With my past knowledge and close observation, I'm confident that we have one of each. Again, IMHO.

The female sure was feisty this afternoon. I'm wondering if she's trying to get her brother to teach her how to exit her confines...LOL.

The male chick fledged between 10 pm and 10:05 pm tonite. I missed it cause I had to take a much needed potty break. I could clearly hear the telltale screeching of what was going on, but there was absolutely nothing I could do to stop in the middle of "taking care of business". Ughhhhhhhhhh.

The female had one thing on her mind this morning. Well, make that two things...DETERMINATION, and fledging. She was successful at both.

And this is the LAST video I capture of her on the platform. She would fledge 6 mins later while I was answering a message from my "go to guru". Sighhhhhhhhh.
