Great pictures Ljames - you always do an excellent job of getting such wonderful shots!!!!!

I thought I set up an alarm on my calendar/phone, but obviously didn't and missed most of it. Normally, they send out an email blast right before banding starts and I didn't get anything in my email.

Nothing yet in regards to banding info/gender.

FC is standing his ground at the far end of the wall while Clara is going crazy in the air and landing on the other end of the wall by the nest. The usual routine.

Oh and babies are huddled in the corner pretending to be part of the nestbox.

Food arrived and they all took off toward parent. I thought that one was going over the edge of the box for sure.

So did I!

I guess since there was not one larger or smaller and they look closer to FC's size, I thought boys. Hopefully these girls will stay calm and gentle, or Clara and FC are going to have their hands full when they dwindle down feedings!

What a surprise! (not) They've been banded & now the nestbox is empty! :girlsad3: Guess they're going to have to man the cam more now to keep up with them.

Thanks for reporting that. I've been so busy with my garden that I haven't had time to watch today and now I am seeing 3 little chicks in the nestbox. I would have never known they had been out already. :egg14: :egglaugh:

From ABC 7News

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) --
Earth Day has a special meaning in San Jose today. It's the annual banding day for the resident peregrine falcons at city hall where a biologist found out the sex of the three baby birds.

Biologist Glenn Stewart is ready for whatever comes his way 18 stories high at San Jose's City Hall and that includes Clara and Fernando -- the resident peregrine falcons. They are the protective parents of three eyasses, or in less scientific terms, baby falcons.

Another article here, it is just about the same as the other article only this is what I found interesting.

Their mother Clara flew protectively overhead the whole time.
“She’s produced 32 babies and we know where 12 of them are months and years later and at least 5 of them are reproducing,” Stewart said, adding, “That’s quite a legacy.”

That is interesting, Kitten, and they know that because of banding! Hope most of these nests continue banding, although I've heard that some are going to discontinue that since peregrines have rebounded. :girlsad3:

Wow, thanks for all the articles and videos. Clara is so special, no doubt about it and hearing news of the little chicks from this nest over the years is always so thrilling. FC is feeding the chicks, everything is orderly.

They are actually losing interest at this point and he is eating.
