Sorry I haven't taken the time to post pictures, but they have been running, jumping, playing, flapping, eating, sleeping, and pooping the last couple of days, just like they should be.

Here's Blue Girl this morning finding a little scrap.

This was a feed yesterday, the bigger one started choking and the other two took advantage of it eating her share for a few minutes. She was ok.

A very small snack came in and a chick ran out to get it, but instead she took it to the chick in the box. The other chick came to take it away, Later a real meal was brought in.

Then late everybody gathered at the nest.

It's almost like the parents want to hang out and enjoy their babies while they still can. They'll be fledged before we know it.

Oh my gosh! Such wonderful entries. I wish we could read the essays and see the artwork and videos for all.
Although it was hard to choose, I voted for Buzo, , a name I had not heard before. And to thing that a kindergartener chose that.

FYI...

Just read on the forums that 00/Z was snacking on an old leg today and apparently may have a claw stuck in her eye. Clara has been trying to help her and at one point locked talons with her to try and help, but she's having none of it.

She's moving around and trying to scratch the foot out, but no luck yet. She is currently in the box, in the right corner.

This is a "let nature take it's course" nest, so we will hope for the best.

Post from Glenn S.

A raptor's eye is an important piece of equipment so concern about debris in the eye is appropriate. It is also important to remember that a raptor's eye is different than ours--it has an extra eyelid known as the "nictitating membrane." This extra eyelid is like a translucent windshield washer that cleans and protects the eyeball, moistening it during a stoop or dive. It is possible that the debris in Double 0's eye is between the eyelid and nictitating membrane so that the eyeball itself is protected. I'm surprised the bird has not managed to pull it out yet herself, but they are clumsy at this age. Most of you know that I am a pretty strict non-interventionist, but in this case it is important to let this resolve on its own. If I were to climb down there to help the little one there is a good chance that one or more young would bolt over the wall and land with a splat on the sidewalk. And so we wait. --glenn

Oh dear! I hope it hasn't caused any damage & that she's able to get it out. :eggsad:

All 3 kids have been laying in the left side of the box while Clara looks on, so I'm hoping the claw did come out.
