A friend sent me two articles that were in the Reading Eagle recently about "Little Red" 2015, born in Reading this spring. The daughter of Harrisburg's own Yellow Boy 2005 and his mate. She's still hanging out in New Jersey. I'm going to type some things right from this article. A man named "Northside Jim" is who first was able to photograph her and ID her from her bands. Typing from the article - Jim continues to be amazed by the aggressiveness exhibited by this falcon, who is demonstrating savvy well beyond what we could expect from a 10-month old Peregrine. Several other folks have chimed in that this falcon's behavior shouldn't be too surprising considering the genetic disposition of her parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. Art McMorris (PA Game Commission falcon coordinator) commented that "Red Stripe's" paternal grandmother (dear Mom) wasn't shy about defending her nesting territory at the Rachel Carson State Office Building in Harrisburg. "She was a tough cookie, too," McMorris said. And HER momma was the most aggressive female Dan Brauning (Game Commission Ornithologist) said he'd ever encountered.
THANKS FOR THE ARTICLE INFO JANE! I DO REMEMBER THEM SAYING THE ONLY FALCON THAT WAS MORE FIERCE WAS MOM'S MOM IN PHILLY LIL DAD AND MOM RAISED THE BEST FALCONS EVER! BEING AS NIECEY IS MOM'S NIECE, HOPEFULLY ALL OF LIL DAD'S AND NIECEY'S WILL BE A GREAT BUNCH TOO!
